| If you are Catholic and want to know what I believe is the only Truth of God's word (which can be found in the Bible), please visit the sites below.
Jesus, in the bible, says that He is the only way to God, not Mary, not penance (repentance yes), not the rosary, only Jesus. Catholics believe that doing something like "not smoking for a day" will deliver them from some of their sins. Like doing a good thing will get rid of some of the bad things. If that's all we had to do, then Jesus did not have to die. Jesus DIED for us. Jesus said "It is finished". Did Jesus lie? Why do Catholics think they have to do MORE to get to God. Jesus did everything. Jesus said we have to be born again, to believe in Him. He did not say that we had to do all the other things to be saved and be with Him. Good Works do NOT get you to heaven. The bible says that Faith without Works is dead and Works without Faith is dead. If a person is a Christian, then they will WANT to do good works. But good works ALONE will not get you to heaven. Catholics, through the pope, believe that Mary had or has something to do with our salvation. She gave birth to the Savior. She was not the savior. Jesus is the only one that can save us. Jesus and Jesus alone. If He needed help, he wouldn't be all-powerful then, would He? Jesus alone died for our sins. Mary had nothing to do with out salvation. She was only human, not divine. If a mere human could do something to get our salvation, then God would not have had to come to earth in human for and Jesus would not have had to die for our sins. How can anybody possibly believe that Jesus needed Mary's help to save us. Or anybody's help for that matter. If Jesus needed help, then He would not be God. He died for us because WE needed help to secure our salvation. We could not do it ourselves no matter how GOOD we tried to be. He sacrificed His life for us. Why would He, being God, need the help of a mere human? In Luke 22:19, Jesus said to do this to remember Him. He did NOT say this would gain our salvation. "And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me."
