Renegades Night Before Christmas
'Twas the night before Christmas, and all 'round the ice,
Even the sin bin was empty, now wasn't that nice.
The sweaters had been hung in the lockers with care
In hopes that the Admirals soon would be there.
That night while the 'Gades were all snug in their beds
Visions of the Kelly Cup danced in their heads
I pulled out lucky paper and pen, donned my thinking cap,
And settled down to start on my game night recap.
When what to my wondering eyes should I see,
But a red-faced, white-haired man by name of Brophy.
Seeing the fright on my face, he soothed "Don't you fear,"
"The Ads did win the championship, but that was last year."
"And everyone knows this is the year of the 'Gades,
With your offense and goaltending, the team has it made."
With a twinkle in his eye as he tugged on his ear,
He added, "The Ads will keep the rivalry for one more year."
He turned to his team, and he bellowed the call:
"No slashing! No tripping! No hooking! No, none at all!"
"No fighting! No roughing! No high-sticking, too!
No check-checking, no boarding, now that just will not do!"
And as he turned so he faced away from the light,
He whispered, "Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!"
MERRY CHRISTMAS, everyone, and hope to see you at the Freezer Saturday night! :-)Copyright 1998 by Patricia C. Anderson
