One summer I headed off down the road to see Patti Smith. I went with a friend. Her main motivation was to see Aphex Twin but likewise was keen on the Smithster. It was Patti's only apearance in town. Lenny Kaye plays guitar in her band. It was excuse enough to go to The Big Day out. This gig costs $65+ to get in to. Many bands. Many foolish young people ignore SunSmart warnings to be rebellious but just get burnt. Hmmm .. must remember to bring lunch next time. Patti says words to the effect of .. " Australian's - Wake Up ! - It's not too late. Don't do what America has done." Mercy Patti ! I think I'm going to cry. This woman is deep I thought, having suspected it all along. Patti reads poetry from her book. On the front of the book is a photo of Patti as a young woman. I take photo's. Not much mosh to contend with. I take more photo's. Patti's band plays rock.
