These zip files were created using Diamond Mind Baseball v.8 using the database backup utility. If you know how to restore a backup, then you're all ready to go. If you don't, then
This league is a Diamond Mind Baseball v.8 league entered over the course of about 2 months. It consists of the greatest players that have ever played for each team. The criteria for that were fairly subjective. However these are the rules I used. In order to be eligable for a team, a player had to:
The fireman of the year criteria exemption is admittedly shaky, but without it too many teams were left without closers.
Additionally there are a few teams where even these criteria were relaxed. The Rockies, Marlins, Devil Rays, and Diamondbacks all needed help, as they couldn't field a team of 25 with those criteria above. Therefore the sole criteria for these teams were that a player play at least 1 complete season with a team for eligability. As I update this league from year to year I will eventually get 25 players for each team and then will remove the players put in under the hardship rules. On occasion I have put a player in that is active with a team and has a contract that should allow him to fulfill the above criteria in the future, and who is obviously deserving of joining the particular team. Such is the case for Alex Rodriguez and the Texas Rangers, with his 10 year contract so large that he is probably impossible to trade. So he is included here with the Rangers as well as the Mariners. There are a few other players in similar situations. If for any reason they are traded or retire before their 4 seasons are completed, they will be removed and I will post an updated database at that point.
A player can appear several times in this database, should he meet the criteria above for several teams. For instance, Nolan Ryan appears with the Angels, Astros, and Rangers, Carlton Fisk represents both the Red Sox and White Sox, and Frank Robinson is on both the Orioles and Reds. This eliminated the problems of deciding who a player "belongs" to, and makes most fans happier with their own teams.
Additionally there are some teams put together for fun which are not in the MLB organization, but are there to play with. The MLB All Century Team consists of the 30 players selected for that team in 1999. The other All Star teams are from leagues other than the NL and AL, and consisted of the best players at their positions for those teams. At this time the all star teams are from the
The negro league stats are in question, as they always are. I found these statistics online at a variety of locations and just went with whatever I could find.
Additionally I put a few defunct NL teams in for fun. These teams all existed for less than 10 years, so they have the same weak qualifying rules that the Marlins, Rockies, Diamondbacks, and Devil Rays are using. They were selected because of the presence of Hall Of Famers that were not represented with the existing teams. I wanted to have every member of the hall of fame inducted as a player in this league somewhere. These teams are:
The Japanese Teams league is very much a work in progress. I read no Japanese, and the statistics in English are quite hard to come by at times. I recently found a book by Daniel Johnson called Japanese Baseball : A Statistical Handbook which provided me with the data that is here. With a great amount of help from Jim Albright, I was able to fill in much of the fielding data and missing batting and pitching information. He also was able to provide me with information about players I otherwise would not have had any information about, so I owe him a great debt of gratitude. Without his help, this league would never have been able to have been created. Even so, I am searching for more complete and better data, and if you know of any place that could be of help then please let me know.
The criteria for making the Japanese Franchise teams is likely to change in the future, as more data becomes available. Right now, any player who ever won a Gold Glove award, Sawamura award (equivalent to the Cy Young), or was named to a "Best Nine" team for a given season was eligible. Additionally, with the help of Jim Albright, I was able to add the players that meet his criteria. As this league is updated, the criteria will come to be more like the MLB criteria.

As I did the research for the Japanese Franchise teams, I received a great deal of information from Jim Albright which allowed me to create a league similar to the Alltime Greatest Teams disks purchasable from Diamond Mind. These are real teams from single years representing some of the great Japanese teams of the past. You will see a lot of Tokyo/Yomiuri Giants teams. They are the New York Yankees of the Japanese game, and have had a lot of great teams. Where I could find other teams, I used them.
I did not have to type this disk in totally by hand thanks to finding a few other leagues out on the internet. I would like to thank James Marshall for his unknowing help in data entry. I used his data entry for the '85 Tigers and for the teams between '94 and '98 included on this disk.

All league disks may have errors in them. I typed it all in by hand and know myself to be imperfect. Additionally the throwing arm and batting hand of the batters in the Japanese leagues was not always available in the sources I was able to locate. If you find an error, please let me know and I will correct it. I believe all of the information contained herein is in the public domain, but if I am wrong then please tell me so and I will remove it.
