Studying Arranging under Dr. J.W. Davis (Edgewood College, Madison, Wisconsin), we were encouraged to “write like crazy” all the time. Some of these projects were original compositions, and others were pieces assigned to us to arrange for specific voicings. With this hymn arrangement of, Oh Sacred Head Now Wounded, I had to arrange this hymn for both string quartet (1 violin, 1 viola, 1 cello, 1 double bass) and instrumental quartet (1 trumpet, 1 horn in F, 1 alto saxophone, 1 baritone saxophone).
