De Wayne Kirchner, a Missouri native, began his career at Drury University, the college from which he hales, as a Professor teaching Design to many of his classmates. Needing a summer job, he applied at the prestigious Stage Door Manor Performing Arts Camp for children in upstate New York. After thirteen summers he returned to the Catskill Mountains as lead Designer working with current performers Mandy Moore, Natalie Portman, and Bryce Howard. Kirchner's success at Stagedoor carried him to New York City where he designed at Radio City Music Hall, the MTV Music Awards show, Disney, countless Broadway and Off Broadway productions, as well as designs for Marylyn McKoo, Billy Davis Jr., and Diahann Carroll. Kirchner's last production in New York was the traveling production of Tommy. At the request of Dollywood, he made the journey to Pigeon Forge, designing park productions for four years, including designs for Dolly Parton when she visited the park. Presently, Kirchner is the resident designer at the prestigious Oak Ridge Playhouse and President of DK Designs in Knoxville. Costume design naturally bleeds into Interior Design and Wedding Planning.  "It's in the genes," Kirchner said.  Designing beautiful interiors with a fresh new approach is his passion.  De Wayne says, "It is important as a designer, to grasp the client's vision and help them see it come to life with a fresh new approach to old techniques."
