"My Favourite Song"
The Lighthouse
There's a lighthouse on the hillside
that overlooks life's sea.
When I'm tossed it sends out
a light that I might see.
And the light that shines in darkness
now will safely lead me home,
If it wasn't for the lighthouse,
my ship would sail no more.
Everyone that lives around us,
says tear that old lighthouse down,
The big ships don't sail this way anymore,
ain't no use in it standing round.
But then my mind goes back to that stormy night,
when just in time I saw the light
With the light from that old lighthouse,
that stands there on the hill.
Chorus
And I thank God for The Lighthouse.
I owe my life to Him
Jesus is The Lighthouse
and from the rocks of sin
He has shown the light all around me
so that I might clearly see.
If it wasn't for The Lighthouse,
Where would this ship be?

The Potter's Wheel
When you’re troubled and discouraged
In the darkness of the night
When obstruction clouds your vision
And you just can't see the light.
When life’s trials overcome you
And you have nowhere to turn
When you’ve reached the very bottom
There are lessons you must learn.
For the clay is being molded
It’s been twisted, pulled and tossed
It’s been rolled and it’s been pounded
Till the ego has been lost.
He will put you through the furnace
You’ll be tested to the brim
Your life will be in pieces
Till you give your soul to Him.
From blemish to perfection
His hands will form the clay
This human piece of rubble
Must let God have His way.
When you come to Him all battered
In the form of mortal man
When you cry to Him in mercy
You will find the Potter’s hand.
He will grind you, mold and chisel
The friction you will feel
Till He gently carves and shapes you
Upon the Potter’s wheel.

To Those I Love And Those Who Loved Me
When I am gone, release me, let me go
I have so many things to see and do
You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears:
Be happy that we had so may years
I gave to you my love...You can only guess
How much you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you each have shown
But now it's time I travel on alone
So grieve awhile for me, for grieve you must
Then let your grief be comforted by trust
It's only for awhile that we must part
So bless the memories within your heart.
I won't be far away for life goes on
So if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you can't see me or touch me I'll be near
And if you listen with your heart you will hear
All of my love around me soft and clear
And then when you must come this way alone
I will greet you with a smile and say "Welcome Home".

Rockin' Chair Boogie
There's nothing the matter with me,
I'm just as healthy as I can be.
I have arthritis and chronic pain,
And fibro fog clutters my brain.
My muscles ache and I have dry skin,
But I'm awfully well for the shape I'm in.
And my diet I try hard not to think about,
Doesn’t do any good to whine around & pout.
I'm overweight and I can't get thin,
But I'm awfully well for the shape I'm in.
And arch supports I need for my feet.
Or I wouldn't be able to walk down the street.
Sleep is denied me night after night,
But the morning brings beautiful sunlight.
My memory's failing, my head's in a spin,
But I'm awfully well for the shape I'm in.
Old age is golden so I've heard it said,
But sometimes I wonder, as I go to bed.
As sleep draws near my pain starts to melt,
I’m learning to deal with the hand I’ve been dealt.
The reason I know my Youth has been spent,
Is my get-up-and-go has got-up-and-went!
But really I don't mind, when I think with a grin,
Of all the places my get-up-and-go has been.
I get up each morning and dust off my wits,
Getting my body to move is quite often the pits.
I eat a good breakfast to start off my day,
Put a smile on my face & God shows me the way.
The moral of this as the tale unfolds
Is that for you and me, who's bodies feel old.
It is better to say, "I'm fine" with a grin,
Than to let people know the shape we are in.
So...All I can do, is all I can do.
But all I can do is enough.
Life isn’t always easy or fair,
But think positive and hang tough.

When Reality Sets In
1. Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about
your age and start bragging about it.
2. Don't let anyone tell you you're getting old. Squash their
toes with your rocker.
3. The older we get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line
for.
4. Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me. I want
people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way
and some of the roads weren't paved.
5. Maturity means being emotionally and mentally healthy. It is
that time when you know when to say yes and when to say no,
and when to say WHOOPEE!
6. How old would you be if you didn't know how old you are?
7. When you are dissatisfied and would like to go back to youth,
think of Algebra.
8. You know you are getting old when everything either dries up
or leaks.
9. I don't know how I got over the hill without getting to the
top.
10. The golden years are really just metallic years, gold in the
tooth, silver in your hair, and lead in the rear.
11. Life would be infinitely happier if we could only be born at
the age of 80 and gradually approach 18.
12. One of the many things no one tells you about aging is that
it is such a nice change from being young. One must wait
until evening to see how splendid the day has been.
13. Age seldom arrives smoothly or quickly. It is more often a
succession of jerks.
14. Yeah, being young is beautiful, but being old is comfortable.
15. Old age is when former classmates are so gray and wrinkled,
and blind they don't recognize you.
16. If you don't learn to laugh at trouble, you won't have
anything to laugh at when you are old.
AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST
17. First you forget names, then you forget faces. Then you forget
to pull your zipper up, then you forget to pull your zipper
down.
