Lesson Plan Subject : English Strand Unit : Creative writing Date : Time : 30 minutes Class : 1st class Resources : Objectives : to enable the child to � Identify and describe errors in English writing pieces � Participate in the self correction of their own written pieces � Disitinguish betweeen the differnt correctional symbols on their writing pieces Introduction : Write down a short story on the board with the following mistakes in them -no capital letters,punctuation errors,no new paragraphs,spelling mistakes and location mistakes.In unison get the class to read the piece out.Then there will probably be an objection from one of the children to a mistake within the story.if there are no objections ask one of them if they see any mistakes in the story.get the chilren to identofy the mistakes in the story.Then explain why and the type of mistake.then tell them that "today we will be correcting the mistakes in our stories" Development : get the children to come up wuth a list of the various types of mistakes and write them up on he board.prompt them to the ones that they have missed out on.Select children to describe the types of mistakes that were made.Then add symbols corresponding to each of te mistakes , for use in the correction of their pieces.Then explain that when they get their written pieces back that they will see symbols just like them on their page.Explain that each of these symbols correspsond to mistakes in their stories .then give the children back their pieces and let them begin correcting the errors in their stories.Travel around the classroom helping children with the correction of their writing pieces .Then give tem out new sheets of paper to re-write their stories that have been corrected onto the new pages that have been previously lined by the chldren. Closure : Ask them to read over their pieces one last time and see if it is right now as the next time they will have them that they will be reading them out in front of the class.Then after they have read it ,collect themand hold them all until the next session. |
