We had a great time with Hettie and Frans, especially in Khao Yai National Park. We had a beautiful bungalow in the middle of the jungle. Mr. Nine was our bird watching guide and we spotted bee-eaters, hornbills, and a lot of other birds. Also macaques and scary spiders and lizzards and much more. At the end of our tour we even had an elephant running after us.
We had great meals and drank wine and had a really good time.
Saying goodbye was hard, but one day later it was Hello again, to our friend Charlotte. She was coming to cycle with us for a whole month! We bought a bike in Bangkok and two days later we left. It was quite exciting, leaving the big city and everything went very well. The first two days were flat, but the third day we had to climb 750 meters on very steep slope. Charlotte did an amazing job. The road was very green and quiet and although it was hard, we had a great time. We slept on a camp site and had a day of rest, sunbathing, reading and relaxing.
Unfortunately we could not cycle the whole way to the border of Laos, because our visa ran out, so we took a bus to the border of Laos. We were very much looking forward to cycling there, and up until now we are definately not dissapointed. The moment we cycled into Vientiane, we noticed the relaxing atmosphere. After two days of sightseeing we started cycling again. It was amazing. The rice fields were so green and the roads very quiet. After a while we decided to go inland through along the small roads, which was even better. The roads were unpaved, but the landscape and people were amazing. Everyone greeted us with Sabaidee and we saw women weaving and making baskets.
Yesterday we had a tough day through the hills, but the landscape was very rewarding. Laos is amazing.
Now we are on our way to Luang Prabang and from there we will say goodbye to Charlotte. We will cycle to China and make the hardest ride so far in Tibet, from Kunming to Lhasa. It is going to be really hard, but we hope we can make it all the way....
