Thailand. We love that country. We thought it might dissapoint us, because we had such high expectations, but it didn't. On the contrary, it is even better than we expected!
In Bangkok we recovered from our Nepal-trip. We slept and ate thai food all day, went to the movies, had a great time.
We were really happy to be on the bike again. Our first long stop was Hua hin, a wonderful beach resort. There we met Nicolai, a Danish guy cycling around the world. With him we cycled on to the south, through small villages and a National Parc where we slept on the beach. This really was Thailand Unplugged, as Nicolai called it.
We couldn't get enough of the beaches, so we decided to go to Ko Tao and Ko Samui. Although beautiful, it was very crowded and touristy. Back on the mainland we cycled to Khanom, where we met Richard, Emmet and Paulette. Emmet and Paulette are setting up a restaurant there.
They are great people, and so hospitable! We were taken to all the beautiful places around Khanom and we could even sleep in their house. They took us to a secluded beach, which was like paradise.
After that we went to Nakhon si Thammarat, another low key spot with a beautiful temple. We visited it on a Sunday, which was great because lots of people go praying then.
Now we are in Malaysia, to get a Thai visa. We cannot wait to get back to Thailand, though. We will cycle from Trang up along the Andaman coast.
