Story 18

Salam, and welcome to Iran

After an amazing week at Camping Lalezar in Dogubayazit, with our great friends Bertil, Mecid and Azzat, it was time to leave Turkey. The great adventure of Iran was waiting. The border crossing went smooth, the opposite of obtaining the visa, which took us 15 days!!

Cycling in Iran went great. The roads are perfect and the people are so friendly!! We cycled in 4 days to Tabriz and all the towns we stopped at looked really admospheric, with lots of trees and brick houses.

In Tabriz we met our dutch friend Maarten again, and we showed his all the nice offices of Tabriz, like three police stations, because our altitude meter was stolen and two hospitals for our (free) rabies vaccination!!

After a couple of days we cycled on in the direction of the Caspian Sea. We had some beautiful rides and met many nice people. And the ride from Ardabil to Astara was especially memorable, in the mountains, with minus two degrees. Who would expect that in Iran???
