Story 16
Dikkat, Dikkat (Danger, Danger)
Finally we arrived in Sinop. A more western camping doesn't exist in Turkey, for sure. And yes, DUTCH PEOPLE!! The Family van Wijk were travelling through Turkey with 4 kids and a great campervan. They were really nice, gave us coffee, took us to beautiful waterfalls inland and we had a nice bbq! Also the owner of the campsite was great! Het took us to see the only Fjord in Turkey. We had a great time. But after this 3 day-holiday it was time to leave in the direction of Samsun. The first 100 km were a little bit hilly, but after that it was FLAT!!
Our last hill, we finished in style, when a turkish ice-cream man gave us a free ice-cream on the top!! A few km down the road, we met our first cyclists on the Black Sea and yes, they were dutch! They gave us some advice and told us there would be a dangerous part ahead. A little worried, we drove on. After some investigation, we found out there was a new highway that was still under construction, but we could take it. And so we did. A 4-lanes flat highway all to ourselves!! The only obstacles were a few tunnels. The first three were quite short, but the last one was pretty dark and unbelievably long!! 4 kilometers of PINCH BLACK is a long drive. Believe us! But after that, everything went perfectly smooth. We had flat roads and although we had a constant headwind, we still drove a lot of kilometers.
Tomorrow we will arrive in Trabzon, where we will do some couchsurfing. And then we will leave the Black Sea. With a lot of beautiful memories to take with us! Like the great silent bays, extremely nice people, and yes, even the steep climbs and constant headwinds. And we will never forget the jumping dolphins in the clear waters of the Blach Sea...
