Proof: J. reads either library books or books from the classroom library after completing tests without being prompted by the teacher. Learning Descriptor IV: Motor Development Area: Body Stability / Balance - Developing Description: Demonstrates body movements that include change in directions, pathways, and intercepting or avoiding objects. Proof: J. effectively changed directions, pathways, and avoided other students while learning African dance steps by completing movements with much accuracy. J. also exhibited similar qualities while learning volley ball during physical education. Learning Descriptor V: Reading Area: Experience - Competent Description: The young reader uses experiences to complement and support what he/she learns about text. Proof: J. provides specific examples from his personal background while reading, especially time spent with his grandfather. Learning Descriptor II: Writing Area: Correctness - Competent Description: Is able to locate most unconventional spellings, punctuation, and misplaced or overlooked capitalization when editing for conventions. Proof: The teacher allowed J. to edit alone first and he found most of the items needing corrected. |
