Southern Nevada Area
Horse Camping and Trails

I'm always on the lookout for information about camping and horseback riding in and around Southern Nevada so if you have some good information, please let me know and I'll add it to my site.

Red Rock Canyon - Las Vegas, Nevada
Just a few miles North West of Las Vegas beautiful Red Rock Canyon provides several trails that are bike trails and/or normal travel routes for the wild mustangs of Southern Nevada.  I'm sure there are some maps somewhere, but I've never been able to find them. No camping that I am aware of.
Mount Charleston, Toiyabe National Forest, Kyle Canyon, Lee Canyon - Las Vegas Nevada
Same story as above, a few miles North of Las Vegas, bike/hiker/horse trails.  No horse camping that I am aware of.
Little Eldon Springs Horse Camp - Flagstaff, AZ
Approximately 7 hours from Las Vegas

Open from Apr to Sep (make contact for exact dates and trail conditions)
Located in the Ponderosa pine trees at an elevation of 7,200 feet with a view of San Francisco Peaks just a few minutes from downtown Flagstaff. There is a lot of wildlife activity (elk and deer) in the area. This campground was specially designed with the needs of the equestrian camper in mind.  Extensive group of mostly loop trails range from easy to difficult but you should make sure your horse is accustomed to the elevation, bicycles and hikers on the trail.   BBQ grills and picnic tables at each site. Water is available all around the camp (you have to use an old fashioned hand pump), and all manure must be cleaned from the site before departure. Popular activities in the area include horseback riding, hiking, bicycle riding and wildlife viewing. Two hitching posts are provided per site as well as overhead tie lines for two horses. The common point in the "lower" and "upper" maps shown below is Shultz Tank.

Reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance. Use of portable corrals by permission of camp host ONLY. Must bring horses to make a reservation in this campground.
