Naples, Florida
July 1st to July 7th
On the same day that we  watched the sun rise on Palm Beach, we saw it set over the Gulf of Mexico, on Vanderbilt Beach in Naples, Florida. James' dad and step-mom have lived in Naples for the last few years and we really feel sorry for them. All that beautiful weather and warm gulf water and sandy beaches. Who'd want that? But we managed to have a good time any. These first few pictures were taken at sunset, on our first day in Naples.
Above: James with his dad, Sam. Below: James and Kristen.
Sam and Vivian's dog, Isis, is very smart and very cute. She can even open up the doors inside the house (which is kind of eerie when you go to bed at night and suddenly the door creaks open. She does not, however, like firecrackers. We found that out when we set some off in the backyard around the 4th.
For our one year anniversary (on July 5th), Sam and Vivian took us out to eat at Pazzo's, an Italian restaurant in Naples that is verrrrrry good. Below: James and Kristen and Sam and Vivian, outside the restaurant.
Left: Sam thought James should become accustomed to being around moose, so they posed with this statue of one, on a sidewalk in Naples.
For July 4th, after eating at Pazzo's, we headed down to the beach for some fireworks. There were A LOT of people there. Super crowded. And people kept setting off their own fireworks, even during the public display, which seemed kind of rude. But the show was still good, especially considering we were watching it while lounging on a beach in Florida. Below are pictures from that event, including the one of James' feet, which he thinks is really cool, for whatever reason.
On the actual night of our anniversary, we stayed at the Vanderbilt, a hotel that is right on the beach. That evening, just before sunset, Sam and Vivian met us at the hotel's Chickee Bar for some dinner. Here we are, left.

Another picture of our feet, this time in the Gulf of Mexico.
