Barringer Meteorite Crater
(near Flagstaff, Arizona)
July 16th
"Typical" Arizona scenery.
On our second day of driving to the Grand Canyon, we stopped at the Barringer Meteorite Crater in Arizona, something that James had been wanting to see. This crater is actually privately owned and is a sight to see. They have a museum with a movie and some interactive displays, but the coolest part is standing out on that observatory, looking down. It's not far off the highway, so if you're ever in the neighborhood...
This is us standing in the crater.

Okay, no, not really. It's really just us standing in front of a wall display in the museum that's made to look like the inside of the crater.
This is the crater. They could play 21 football games inside of it. At the same time. Wow, right?
The observatory tower. It's a long way down.
The white thing is where NASA used to train their astronauts for lunar landings.
This is not a poster. It's actually a window in the brick wall at the meteor crater museum. THIS IS ACTUAL SCENERY. Amazing.
