| Just one of the many things we didn't like about California. This gas sign, on the right, shocked us so badly that we had to take a picture of it. This was the highest price we saw anywhere on our trip (it's probably higher in Alaska, though, so we'll see...). | ||||||||||
| Here's the basic story of California: We went. We hated it. We left. The longer version involves bad drivers, a very disappointing campsite, loooooong scenic drives that were unavoidable because of the screwed-up California highway system, and sky-high prices for everything. After driving nonstop from Grand Canyon, we stayed in Carmel only long enough to get this picture our feet in the water. It was so dark we had to use the flashlight (that's why James' foot looks kind of weird here). Then we drove away, found a quasi-cheap hotel, and then drove straight to Montana. | ||||||||||
