| Sandford, John M 3 : The Night Crew - 8-02 This novel was very well written, but for the story it was too long. By the time I got to the end I was hoping someone would kill Anna just to shut her up. I could no longer remember the murderer or his discription from the first five pages. Saul, John H 4 : Black Lightning - 8-99 extremely well done. Hard to put down. 4 : Nightshade - 8-00 Compelling and iresistable to read, but ends without closure and with extreme unfairness to the reader. 4 : The Right Hand of Evil - 7-02 This novel is extremely well written. It gives strength and credibility to its evil antagonist. I was captivated by this story, but I do not feel inclined to read it again - there was no humor to off set the horror - that is the flaw. Sheldon, Sidney ? 4 - Nothing Lasts Forever - 8-00 Very well done page turner. 3 - The Best Laid Plans - 9-00 There seemed to be no protraganist to root for. Smith, Mitchell H 3 : Karma - 4-00 Too much gross stuff, but otherwise excellent. Straub, Peter H 5 : The Talisman - prior to `96, R - 12-01 see King 3 : Houses Without Doors - 4-01 These stories are spellbinding. Straub drowns you totally in his world. But at the end of each you ask, with disappointment, "Why?" 5 : Black House with King - 9-02 King & Straub are each great writers, but put together and you have magic! This story is beautifully woven. I see no faults or cheating here. I just wish King would keep the 'Dark Tower' stuff separate! |
