Pat,

I hope all is going better for you. I have at last, picked one to send.

I like this one, however it is weak in the transitions between the stanzas, the third and fourth stanzas seem out of place with the rest of the poem. I also have this bad habit of shifting tenses, from present tense to future and then to past. I'm thinking, shorter may be better.

I hope your summer is a pleasant one this year.

agape,

DH

Songs for two

There are songs that we sing
there are feelings we bring
and sometimes all we can share
is the tears and our fears

surely as the summer fades to fall
you'll give your true love your all
the world may seem a perfect place
when I look at the smile on your face

I just want to kiss you, one more time
falling in love was such a terrible crime
I know you love me, you don't have to say
even though now I'm failing, fading away

lost in the nighttime, lost in the dark
in this darkness, I can see a spark
from that spark, we can build a fire
flaming torches, of passion and desire

when I miss you, I sing out loud
singing badly, I'm not so proud
love seems unsteady, and sometimes it slips
but your song is always there on my lips
