We were married Wairoa, 23 June 1952.
On my 70th birthday, 27 May 1998, Mearle shouted me a trip to Auckland's casino and skytower. I had a lot of fun at the casino, didn't make any money, in fact lost the $400 I had partly saved and partly been given by some of my family to spend at the casino. It sure was a great two days of fun. This picture taken atop the tower shows me pushing Mearle off the tower, (just kidding of course, I love her too much to do anything silly like that).

We had eight children. Our third born, Bruce, died at 10 weeks in 1956. Our eldest son, John, father of Kara-Leigh, died 1990 aged 37 after 10 year battle with cancer. Living children are Alan (m Juliet), Kathryn (m Gavin Mulinder), Anne (m Ken Haye deceased 1996), Shona (m Peter Donnelly), Brian (m Julene Hasler), and David as yet unmarried.
