Public Health

In the future, the greatest impact forensic pathology may have on society is in the area of public health.  Today, it is sadly underutilized.  One topic I have a keen interest in is the correlation between the violent deaths in different societies and that societies access to handguns.  Is this for real? It sure is interesting! Check back!

Yesterday, April 3, 2000 the American Academy of Pediatrics released the findings of a 10-year study on the incidence of injury and death among children and adolescents.  Read a summary of what they had to say, including some disturbing statistics here.

On April 5 some new gun laws came into effect in Massachusetts which will have a great impact on the needless deaths of children (and hopfully adults).  Read about it here.
