"Dysglycemia"

Dysglycemia is a term being used in some medical literature to describe non-diabetic, non-impaired glucose tolerance glucose levels that are associated with increased risk of vascular disease.  A few prospective studies with subjects numbering in the tens of thousands are demonstrating that the adverse effects of blood glucose may be a gradient, not the trational threshold cut off's.  There is some very interesting work being done in this area, and in particular a study done by my former research group on the effects of glucose loading on the endothelial function of healthy volunteers.  More on this later!!
