Unit By-Laws

The WWII 505th PIR Pathfinder Re-enactors (hereinafter referred to as the "Pathfinders") will abide by all 20th Century Tactical Studies Group, Inc (20th CTSG) by-laws, as well as safety and authenticity rules. Any and all future changes to the 20th CTSG bylaws and/or safety and authenticity rules, approved by the 20th CTSG Board of Directors, will be adhered to by all members of the Pathfinders.

Organization:

The Pathfinders will be organized into "sticks," as they were during WWII. Sticks will consist of 12-18 personnel, and be commanded by an Officer or senior Noncommissioned Officer. Sticks will be composed of both security (Infantry), and radio operator (Signals) personnel. Medical personnel are also authorized, but will only be portrayed by personnel with formal medical training, I.E.; Special Forces Medics, Pararescuemen, Navy Corpsmen, civilian EMT/Paramedics, etc.

Due to the critical importance of their unique wartime mission, WWII Pathfinders were a fairly rank-heavy organization. Some sticks had two officers, and a number of NCOs assigned. Rank in the Pathfinders will closely follow the rank structure seen in WWII pathfinder units, with few exceptions based on unit size. Sticks will be based on the 18-man structure, and consist of the following:

1 X LT, Warrant Officer or Senior NCO Pathfinder Stick Leader

1 X S/Sgt Security Team Leader

2 X Sgt, T4 or T5 Pathfinder Beacon Operators

1 X Sgt or Cpl Assistant Security Team Leader

4 X T4, T5 or Pfc Pathfinder Light Men

9 X Pfc or Pvt Security Team Members

The unit staff will consist of a commander (CO), executive officer (XO), first sergeant (1st Sgt) and medical personnel. These positions will be in addition to the stick positions as mentioned above, as they were during WWII.

The Charter members of the Pathfinders are portraying Stick No. 12, 1st Team, 505th Parachute Infantry Pathfinders. Once the unit grows to multiples of more than 18 stick personnel, 2nd Team will be activated, then 3rd Team. Each stick will consist of a minimum of 10, and a maximum of 18 personnel.
