This article concerns how I modified the transfer case shifter in my Pathfinder after a three inch body lift so it would work just like it did before.

Here's a pic of the finished product. My Pathfinder is an automatic. Note that the shifter doesn't even come close to the console even though it's in 4-low. If you JUST notched the floor and the console to make the lever fit in 4-lo, the knob would be well inside the perimeter of the coin holder on the console.
Notice the 3/8" drive u-joint adapter? No, I didn't just get done working on the Pathfinder.....:)
The shifter is in 4-lo now, and has more than adequate clearance from the floorpan. I had to split the rubber boot in order to get it all to work. I left it in there for whatever small amount of cover it provides. I plan on getting an aftermarket rubber shifter boot to cover up the potential mud-hole. So far, a little mud has splashed up over the t-case, but nothing too bad. I'll have to restrain myself from wading through big puddles....
Note: the shifter has two sections--the black upper part and the lower part that mounts into the transfer case itself. They're mated together by slipping the upper part over the lower. The upper part has a rubber liner inside that makes it fit tightly.
This pic shows how much of the floorpan I had to trim away for the shifter to fit. The shifter is in 2-hi. The blue line represents the original shape of the floorpan. Notice how the light wiring is run right past the edge of the floorpan. Gotta be careful of that while you're cutting and filing!
