Brown's Camp pics from 2-23-02 (Nissan+ Run)
Sorry about the bell-shaped thing on the front of your truck, Lee, it must've been a water droplet on the camera lens.   :)
I forget this guy's name, but he really didn't worry about his S-10 too much, did he?  Heh. Back wheel's in the air, front bumper's digging a new furrow in that rut.  Later on, this guy lost four out of five of his wheel lugs going up a trail on one of his front wheels.  Owie.
I think the theory is to go over the rocks, not push them out of your way, isn't it?  ;)
Little bit of door damage.  Oops!  He wasn't pissed, though.
Here's me going thru the mid-upper part of Firebreak Five by myself.  :P  Me and the guy in the red 520 pickup were the only ones to try this trail.  This is the one where I bent both sets of tie rods and dented the front wheel on my Pathy.   Lame, but fun!
Fallen trees were everywhere from the snows and weather in the area.  Screw it, I'm going through! (Note to self: Next time, bring machete.)
Hey, it isn't four bying if you ain't getting stuck, is it?  The side of the road was DAMN soft around this area.
From bad to worse.  Hauling me bass-ackwards didn't help any.  Now I'm facing downhill towards a good thousand foot ravine full of boulders and trees!
Hmmmm.  They always say necessity is the mother of invention, right?  We rigged a tree strap around a solid tree root up the hill directly behind me, and then hooked all of our tow straps together with clevises, ran one through a big clevis on the tree root strap. Then we ran the strap over to Brian's Dodge on the road.  Crossing our fingers, he then pulled the Pathy straight back onto the road at a really burly angle.  Brian has the other pics of this procedure, when I get them from him, I'll post them here as well.
The reason I got stuck in the first place was that a fallen tree had to be driven over in order to go up this trail, which wasn't much of a problem due to the road angle and the way the tree was laying across the road.  On the way back, I slid downhill trying to get back over it, backed up, and promptly got stuck on the soft shoulder.  Hey, it only took us an hour to get me out, then we chopped a cut in the tree with my Cold Steel Recon Tanto(with only a 7" blade!) and pulled it in half with both rigs towstrapped to the trunk.  Yeee-ha!  Now, about that machete....
