WESTERN CUBA
On this 3 week trip in March 2004 to Western Cuba I started in Havana and headed west as far as paved roads will take you, ie: to Maria La Gorda, before returning to Havana. Along the way, I explored the North and South Coast as well as the mountainous interiour.

If you're looking for a good cigar this town and the surrounding region is the place. In addition to cigars there are several bizarre bicycle murals in this town.

PINAR DEL RIO
For long long stretches the road between Playa Larga and Playa Giron runs right  along the shores of this beautiful bay.
This is Casa Pipi's owners car and son. Located at the head of the Bay of Pigs I used this town as a base to explore the bays eastern shores.

I think the most beautiful beaches in all of Cuba are located here. The sailboat has a Canadian flag on it and I presume the owners are snorkelling in the waters.
With all legal rooms in Soroa booked solid we got lucky when the owner of this house invited us to stay at her place for the night. For a thatched roof shack with a compacted earth floor this home was neat, orderly and very clean.
