OWNERS: Jeff and Pam Burrer
HISTORY:
This Z28 was originally purchased in Santa Ana California at Clark
Hatch Chevrolet, it stayed in California from 1971 until 1979. This car
was then sold and brought to the Dallas Texas area were it remained until
1989. A Mr. Allen Morris purchased the Z28 and brought it to the Chicago
area were it underwent restoration by him. The Z28 has been in the Chicago
area since its restoration in 1989, being passed among several owners until
my wife and I purchased it in late 1998. My wife and I are building on
the restoration that Mr. Morris started and are constantly trying to bring
this car back to as close to original condition as possible. The vehicle
is highly documented, I have been able to speak to most of the owners of
this car including the original owner who is now in his sixty's.
FACTS:
This Z28 has the original drive train, the LT-1 Engine (numbers matching)
has the original intake and exhaust manifolds. The Holley Carb is a new
correct 4801-1 with the GM part number, but has a later casting number
(1975). The M20 4 speed and shifter are original ( trans numbers match)
and the 3.73 rear gear and housing are all original. The one hard to believe
but documented fact is that the exhaust system on this car is original
excluding the muffler, which has been replaced and the pipes between the
muffler and the chromed exhaust tips. The chrome exhaust tips are original
but have been rechromed. This Z28 came with front and rear bumpers that
had the rubber nose installed at the edge of the bumper, this is a rare
option that was discontinued in 1971 I believe. The TCS system is all in
place but disconnected (thank god), future plans are to install the original
Air injection pump, tubing and hoses back on the engine and try and locate
and install some of the hard to find brackets and hardware that have been
lost over time. Also some interior improvements are planned for the Deluxe
interior. |
