| Chapter Three: Hermione and Her Friends | ||||||||||
| Just after her father left, Hermione spoke to her mother about going to buy her school books. "Mom, school is starting soon, you know, and I need to go and purchase my books. My friends are going on Wednesday. Could we. . .I possibly go then?" "Your father can't, but I guess I will. We'll have to go and withdraw money to purchase them with tomorrow." By this time, Hermione had finished her breakfast, and she hurried upstairs to reply to Harry. She had known Harry and Ron since their first year at Hogwarts. But her parents had ordered herself to be ignorant to her magical powers while on vacation. She had even been denied the chance to go see Viktor Krum over the holidays. It was a very tear-stained letter that she sent to him, explaining shy she could not come see him. "Dear Viktor," it read, "I'm sorry, but my parents are refusing to allow me to visit you. They plead ignorance to our world, and claim that the plane tickets to Bulgaria are too high. Please keep writing, because they can't stop me from doing that." Thinking of nothing else to write, she had signed the bottom and sent it with Pig, who Ron had sent for her use over the summer. She quickly wrote a not to Harry, saying she would meet him and Ron at Gringotts Bank on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. |
