A down Lewes train comes off the mainline at Keymer Junction. On this summer day in 1968, the lack of traffic on Junction Road is astonishing by today's standards.

The author at Keymer junction. Known as the fish-fryer, it had a Westinghouse panel frame. Just visible to the left is the four lever frame, two gate locks and two detonator placers. Behind me is the wheel for operating the crossing gates.
