Our interest in smooth gaited horses started nearly 15 years ago on a fly fishing trail ride in the hills of Wyoming. Riding an ambling gaited horse convinced my husband that trail riding could be comfortable and compatible with exploring the land for high country fishing.
Researching gaited breeds we decided the gentle disposition, sure footedness, beauty, and gliding motion of the Missouri Fox Trotter fit the need. We have owned the same two Missouri Fox Trotters since 1996 and have found no need to trade for different styles or temperaments.
