This letter was written by my grandfather, William Cromartie Currie, Sr. (12/3/1885 - 8/3/1957), to his wife, Sallie Gibbens Currie, (9/29/1879 - 8/29/1973), who was staying at Neely Plantation, Omega, LA with their baby son, my father, William Cromartie Currie, Jr., (5/20/1908 - 4/6/1993).

Dear Little Girl:
You
did not see me to-
day as luck would
have it I could not
be at the train.
I have surely been
busy up to date &
am good & tired
when night
comes.
You don't know
how I miss my
girl when I come
home especially
nobody the (?)

(end page one)

me one bit and
no pretty little man
to love & play with
It makes me feel
so blue when ever
I think of it.
I am going to
come down Sun-
day if I possibly
can but am
not absolutely cer-
tain of it yet.
Getting some thing
to ride is going
to be the trouble
some part of it.
How have you
& our baby been

(end page two)

getting along this
week. I hope you
are both O.K.
Try & not feel too
bad love. I know
it is (?) al
most to talk that
way but it would
make me feel so
much better if I
thought that you
were not so blue.
Well Heart must
say good night
for its getting late.
Give my love to
all the folks & espec-
ially to Grandma

(end page three)

Kiss the boy & try
and teach him not
to forget his papa.
With a heart full of
love to you I am

Always yours
Crumps

(Cousin Pat's note: "Grandma" is our Hester Ann Selser Richards Currie, (2/2/1820 - 6/10/1009). She died 5 weeks after this letter was written and we can pretty much be assured that it was at Neely with her family around her.)
