FILM & TV - SCORES / SOUNDTRACKS / COMPILATIONS

LATEST CD : Extreme Prejudice (La-La Land) - Jerry Goldsmith
First Impressions: This expanded album contains new material not found on the orignal 1987 Intrada CD (the same content was released in the UK by Silva Screen). I've never heard the Intrada CD but the sound on this is terrific, and I'm no audiophile. The music is typical Jerry from the time i.e. orchestra augmented with synths, with the emphasis on electronics even greater here. On first listen this reliance on synthesizers can be slightly distracting but I'm sure further listening will enable a better appreciation of the overall experience. Aswell as the main theme, there are themes for Sarita (Nick Nolte's character's girlfriend), Cash Bailey (Powers Booth) and a military theme for the bank-robbing mercenaries. There's also a Mexican-flavoured theme which serves as the End Credits music.

My WishList of Sorts - Some scores I'd like to have and other composer filmgraphies of interest to me.
My Other Stuff - Other Various Lists

The Film/TV Soundtracks I acquire generally fall into 5 basic categories:
1. Anything by Jerry Goldsmith & John Williams. From the brilliant (Legend and Star Wars) to "acquired taste" type stuff (Freud and Heartbeeps).
2. Stuff from other composers whose work I like e.g. Elmer Bernstein, John Barry, Bernard Herrmann, James Horner, Danny Elfman, John Carpenter, plus material from other composers whose work is beginning to catch my attention e.g. Laurence Rosenthal, Alex North, James Newton Howard, David Arnold, Trevor Jones, Alan Silvestri.
3. Stuff that's recommended by film score sites.
4. New scores from summer blockbusters like the Matrix Reloaded to winter blockbusters like the Lord of the Rings.
5. Scores for films I remember from when I was younger and bring back fond memories e.g. The Last Starfighter, The Final Countdown and Ladyhawke.
I'm not providing film score reviews or recommendations to buy as there are plenty of other web pages which provide that service. This is just a snapshot of what I have at this moment in time. In some cases I have provided a link to where the particular title can be purchased. Also, as a fan of cover art, I've included alternative artwork where possible as sometimes a CD will be released with a different cover in different parts of the world but with exactly the same material. If a CD re-release contains a different cover to the original, I will only include the one I have (unless I have both); the other cover will most likely be found in the WishList if have I found it.
Also, it must be noted that this is a work in progress. It may never be completed as I am constantly adding new CD's, dates, covers etc. as well as buying them.
