Bessie Tapper was born in Torbay, circa 1883, to Richard & Dorothy Martin Tapper. Bessie married Cornelius Drew of Bay Bulls and relocated to Amityville, Long Island, NY. She lived to be 90. Everyone attributed her longevity to her Newfoundland origins.
