Uncle Joe Ryan, son of James Joseph and Ellen Finn Ryan, told me his grandmother, Mary Ryan, was from Middle Cove and that she married his grandfather, Pat Ryan from Gallows Cove, Torbay. Uncle Joe said while they had the same last name they were not related.

(The parents of Pat were Wm. Ryan and Julia either McGuire or Roche. The parents of Mary were John Ryan and Ellen Grace of Middle Cove. This Catharine (sic) was probably the sister of Mary. This James Flemming was probably the husband of Anne Fitzpatrick. I don't know who his parents were. )

Mary's father was John Joe (married to Ellen Buckle). Her grandfather was
Richard (married to Mary Ellen Downs). Her great-grandfatther was John Ryan,
