Greater Is He That Is In You
1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
God is greater
Isaiah 40:13 Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor hath taught him?
Isaiah 40:14 With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?
Isaiah 40:15 Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.
Isaiah 40:17 All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.
Isaiah 40:18 ¶ To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?
Isaiah 40:22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
Isaiah 40:23 That bringeth the princes to nothing; he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.
Isaiah 40:25 To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.
Isaiah 44:6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.
Isaiah 44:8 ... Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.
There is one God who created everything. He alone is God. Who could possibly be greater than He?
Greater than the devil.
No matter what you call him - Satan, Lucifer, the Devil - He is God's chief competition. But God has beaten him at every turn.
Adam sinned, giving in to the devil, but God has a plan.
Genesis 3:14 ¶ And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
This is the first promised of a Savior.
Satan had to get permission from God to mess with Job.
Job 1:9 Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?
Job 1:10 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.
Job 1:11 But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.
Job 1:12 And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.
All through the history of the Jews (the OT) Satan tried to destroy the lineage (family) of Jesus in order to prevent His coming. Even up to His birth when he inspired Herod to kill all the newborn children so as to assassinate the one born "king of the Jews".
In every case, God prevailed and keep the Messianic lineage alive.
Satan tried to tempt Jesus to sin and get him off track.
Matthew 4:1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
Matthew 4:3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
Matthew 4:6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Matthew 4:8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
Matthew 4:9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
When Jesus was crucified, Satan thought he had won. Then he found out that God we really behind the crucifixion. It was the ultimate sting operation. God was in control, and it was all part of the plan of the salvation of man.
Satan then tried to destroy the church and has throughout history continued to try it. His efforts have only made the church grow larger and stronger and weeded out the half-hearted ones.
In Revelation we see the end of all things -
Revelation 12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
Revelation 12:8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Revelation 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
Revelation 19:19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.
Revelation 19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
Revelation 20:1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
Revelation 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
Revelation 20:3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
Revelation 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
Revelation 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Revelation 22:3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:
God's other competitors are idolatry, worldliness, and the flesh.
Idolatry
, the worship of religious objects or idols, is foolish. Scripture tells us that an idol is nothing.1Ch 16:26 For all the gods of the people are idols: but the LORD made the heavens.
Isaiah 2:8 Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made:
Jeremiah 2:11 Hath a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit.
Jeremiah 11:12 Then shall the cities of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem go, and cry unto the gods unto whom they offer incense: but they shall not save them at all in the time of their trouble.
1 Corinthians 8:4 As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.
1 Corinthians 8:5 For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)
1 Corinthians 8:6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
There is no life in an idol, so there is no help from them. An idol is nothing and so can do nothing.
Worldliness is the call of the world - the lure away from godliness into the things of the world - the distractions, cares, and worries of the world.
We see in the Parable of the Sower that the cares of this life can choke the Word and make it of no effect in our lives.
But worldliness can be easily overcome by denying sinful desires and pursuing God.
Galatians 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
Jesus overcame with God's Word. "It is written…" he kept saying to the devil.
The things of this world will all pass away someday.
Isaiah 40:7 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.
Isaiah 40:8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
1 John 2:17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
But the Kingdom of God will go on forever.
The flesh is the natural human desire toward self-rule and self-gratification. "I want…"
The lust of the flesh is one of the 3 categories of sin. The other two are intricately related.
1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
But if we will simply follow and obey the leading of the Holy Spirit of God, the flesh will be overcome.
1 Peter 2:11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Romans 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
Romans 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
1 Corinthians 9:27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
Romans 13:14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
He Is In You!
Jesus Christ lives in you if you have received Him as Savior and Lord. !
Jesus Christ lives in you if you have received Him as Savior and Lord. You must receive Him. That is the only real requirement for entrance into heaven and eternal life. The commandments won't do it. Good works won't do it. Prayer won't even do it. Only receiving Him will get you in.
And when you receive Him, He comes into your life in a supernatural way.
Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
He has promised us his fellowship, but then even more.
John 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth … ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
Ezekiel 36:27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
1 Corinthians 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
Romans 8:10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
Colossians 1:27 … Christ in you, the hope of glory:
Take heart! Christ is in you and He is greater than anything that can come at you.
1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
1 John 5:5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
Finally,
Romans 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
