Revive Us Lord

Ps 85:6 Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee? (AV)

We recognize that revival comes from God. It can come from nowhere else. But we must prepare for revival. It doesn't just come at random. It doesn't just fall indiscriminately. It falls where the soil is prepared.

Tilling the soil - opening your heart and life to God that He might search it and cleanse it. You must be a cleansed and submitted vessel in order fro God to freely flow through you.

Enriching the soil - prayer, much prayer must go before revival. Every revival known to history has been preceded by fervent and long prayer.

We must enforce the defeat of Satanic forces. We must bind the strong man - the Satanic prince over our locale. We must prayerfully prepare the hearts of sinners to receive the gospel message.

We must weep before the Lord over our own sinfulness and the sinful condition of our communities. Prayer is not an ingredient. Prayer is the battle.

Planting - Evangelism is needed. Laborers must go out into the harvest. The seed must be sown in the hearts of unbelievers.

Ro 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (AV)

Ro 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? (AV)

Ro 10:15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! (AV)

Fertilizing - continued prayer and follow-up must take place. It is irresponsible to spread a message as vital as the gospel and not follow-up with subsequent appropriate action. Prayer will drive the message into the heart through the power of the Holy Spirit. Follow-up will convince the hearer or the importance of the message and that the sharer really cares and that God really cares.

Readiness - The church must be prepared for souls in revival. The saints must be prepared to serve, to be patient with the greeness of the new converts, to teach and model Christian behavior, to minister. If the saints don't want to be bothered with all this inconvenience, revival will not occur.

Pr 14:4 Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox. (AV)

Note: As the glory of God increases - as revival begins to burn hotter, so will sin and opposition. Satan will not give up easily.

By where sin abounds, grace much more abounds.
