Your mouth and your mind

Psalms 19

7. The law of the LORD [is] perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD [is] sure, making wise the simple.

8 The statutes of the LORD [are] right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD [is] pure, enlightening the eyes.

9 The fear of the LORD [is] clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD [are] true [and] righteous altogether.

10 More to be desired [are they] than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: [and] in keeping of them [there is] great reward.

12 Who can understand [his] errors? cleanse thou me from secret [faults].

13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous [sins]; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.

14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

Watch what you say.

Pr 18:21 Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. (AV)

There is power in words.

It is a psychological fact. If you talk gloom and doom, you will live gloom and doom.

Words are like seeds. Whatever you plant will grow.

It is a physiological fact. The speech center is somehow interconnected with the nervous system in such a way that your body will actually subconsciously carry out the things you say.

And it is a spiritual fact. Satan loves to catch you saying the wrong things. (Now I'm not talking about this positive confession, name it and claim it, prosperity thing. That thing got way out of balance and focused on the wrong things. It became worldly and created a lot of worldly believers.)

I'm talking about disciplining your mouth - bringing it into submission - and speaking wisely instead of foolishly.

Pr 18:21 Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. (AV)

Pr 6:2 Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth. (AV)

Just like water runs in a ditch, your life will follow the course set by your mouth.

Mr 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. (AV)

Sadly, you will have what you say.

Watch what you think.

Pr 23:7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so [is] he . . .

Your thoughts will eventually become your words and your actions.

2Co 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; (AV)

Previous verse -

2Co 10:4 (For the weapons of our warfare [are] not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) (AV)

The children of Israel failed to enter because they thought they could not. It was in their minds that they were too small, too weak to enter into that land. God had given them the victory, but their thoughts defeated them.

As man thinketh . . .

If you think 'Gloom and doom' you'll end up in a tomb, but if you think 'high and dry' you'll wind up in the sky!

It's up to you how you are going to think about it. You make a decision to set your mind upon certain things. You can think about victory or you can think about defeat, but bear this in mind. Whatever you meditate on will eventually become reality.

Php 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: (AV)

Php 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things. (AV)

Col 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. (AV)

A lot of believers are stuck to the world because all they think about is the world. Get your mind out of the gutter and onto the streets of gold.

Watch what you say! Watch what you think! Take control back from the devil and give it to the Lord.
