Chris has been one of the most, if the the most improved player in the team. Less than 12 months ago he was struggling to make the squad with three other right-backs between himself and the first team and by the end of this season he found himself breaking up the classic back four of Perry, Spruell, Betteridge and Croxford. Joe Mellows put Chris's season in perspective when he said "Chris started the season as a very unfit extra and ended it in storming fashion." He has a run of injuries to thank for getting his opportunities in the starting XI and it was after coming on as a first half Sub. against Fleurs De Lys that he made his mark on Clanfield's coach Mick Mellows and won the Man of the Match award. Chris's humour keeps the team spirit up and with his entertaining warm-ups the team usually starts in a positive frame of mind. Chris does also have the ability, unlike most of the team, to be able to take throw-ins and has one of the longest throws at the club. Chris is strong and determined although he lacks both skill on the ball and confidence as he is a great believer in safety-first football e.g.hoofing it as far as possible. In the latter part of the season Chris became well known for his last ditch defending which involved no less than 6 goal-line clearences in his last 5 games. This season promises to be a good one for Chris who, as long as he can keep his fitness up, can hear the right-back spot beckoning him.
