Sunday 1st October and Drayton were still looking for their first win under their new name. The team was not quite at its strongest with its more notable absentees being Guy and Jamie. After beating us 6-0 last week, Hayling were riding a crest of confidence. It didn't take them long to score when a corner was smashed in and 'ging' had a free headerand duly took his chance. Drayton never really threatened and came closest to scoring when Humph was put through by a Timmy ball. Humph just shot wide from a tight angle and Timmy scraped the post from a free kick. Joe threatened with a few darting runs and could only be stopped by some horrific tackles. Betts and Godfrey looked solid at the back and Humph and Garrad looked relatively dangerous on occasions. The second half was a different story with Drayton conceding three more goals. Paulie was on form and had one terrific save. The team battled on but never really threatened after the departure of Mellows. Betts got ticked off by the ref and Godfrey went on some mad runs. Walks and Jonny Crox did their job well and in the end we were beaten by some great goals.
