WHO ARE PASSIVE SOLAR STCUTURES LTD.?
Passive Solar Structures Ltd. is a corporation set up by me, Ernie Fantini, in 1979 the year I built my first passive solar home in Downingtown PA. for Ned and Sherry Desmond. Since then I have built numerous passive solar homes, sunrooms, additions, and energy efficient homes.
In 1991 my wife, son and I moved to Lawrence, Kansas. Since living here I have continued my construction company building sunrooms, energy efficient housing and in 1998 we were fortunate enough to build our own passive solar home.
Most custom home builders act as general contractor or manager, contracting most, if not all, of the actual work to unrelated sub-contractors who have no understanding or feel for the design as a whole. With Passive Solar Strcutures Ltd. most work, critical to the energy performance of the project, is done "in house" with one crew. Workers are chosen for their ability to do and understand all aspects of house construction, as well as for desire to do passive solar work. All tradesmen on the crew have previous experience in passive solar and greenhouse construction. I, as designer and field supervisor, have designed and built other passive solar homes throughout Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania and, during the last 10 years, Kansas.
Through experience I have learned that a properly built passive solar house uses approximately 50 to 75 percent less energy than a standard new house of the same size and style for about four to five percent more in cost, most of which is in added insulation.
I feel our labor force's organization, experience, and motovation allows more quality control throughout the building process. This, along with our own energy saving techniques that are part of all our designs, enables us to produce a truly superior product in insulation and construction.
As well as building solar houses and additions I have acted in consultation, as construction advisor, and designer drawing blue prints.
After more than 25 years in business I have never had a dissatisfied customer, and can supply numerous references.
HAVE NAIL GUN WILL TRAVEL
I have already built passive solar and custom homes in four states as well as working in the trades in New Mexico and the North Georgia area. I would consider consulting over the internet or even traveling to any part of the planet to work on quality energy efficient custom housing.
