| Biggest Regret: Marrying Julian and not Sam |
| Name: Ivy Winthrop Crane Family Background: Ivy's father, Harrison, served as governor of the state and then owned and operated Winthrop Marine. Ivy's mother, Helena Revere-Mott-Beaton Winthrop was a Daughter of the American Revolution. Romantic History: Wealthy debutante Ivy first laid eyes on blue-collar Sam Bennett when he rescued her from drowning. The two fell madly in love and planned to someday marry. However, while Ivy attended Rutland Women's College, they kept their relationship a secret. Ivy was scared that her powerful father would not approve of their love. She couldn't have been more correct. When Harrison found out about their union, he plotted to separate them. Ivy's father and Alistair Crane schemed to make Ivy think that Sam no longer loved her. Their plan worked and Ivy eventually turned to Julian. When she learned the truth on her wedding night, Ivy went running to Sam and the two made love. On that night, Ethan was conceived. Ivy never got over Sam, and to this day she is determined to get him back in her life. Spouse: Ivy has lived in a loveless marriage with Julian for over twenty years. She was tricked into marrying Julian by her father (who disapproved of her relationship with Sam) and by Alistair Crane (who wanted to make the union for business reasons.) Ivy's father and Alistair schemed to make Ivy think that Sam no longer loved her. Once Ivy began to doubt Sam, Julian began to court her. Ivy was overwhelmed by Julian's charm and accepted his marriage proposal. It was on her wedding night that she overheard Julian and Alistair discussing that the marriage was nothing but a business merger. Since then, Ivy has been married to Julian in name only. Recently, Julian filed for divorce after learning Ethan is not his son. But after sacrificing years of her life married to a man she does not love, Ivy is determined to hold onto the Crane name and power. Children: Ivy's eldest son, Ethan, has always been the apple of her eye. The reason? Ethan is the son of her true love, Sam Bennett, a secret she kept since the day Ethan was conceived. Ivy wanted to raise Ethan with all the wealth and privilege that came along with being a Crane. Of course, Ivy always secretly hoped that someday she, Ethan, and Sam could be a true family. However, Ivy's dreams were shattered when the truth about Ethan's paternity came out in a sleazy tabloid. Both Ethan and Sam denounced Ivy for lying to them. And a bitter, embarrassed Julian immediately filed for divorce. Ivy continues to try to make things right with Ethan. Ivy also has three other children by Julian. There is no way she will let Julian take this life-style away from her. Friends: Ivy's closest friend is Pilar Lopez-Fitzgerald, who has been her housekeeper and confidante for years. Pilar knew the secret of Ethan's paternity but kept it quiet for Ivy's sake. Rebecca Hotchkiss and Ivy used to be friendsbut that was before Rebecca manipulated Ivy's husband into proposing to her! Favorite Song: Sam and Ivy's "song": "Just the Way You Are" by Billy Joel Favorite Scent: Jasmine. Sam used to love when Ivy wore this scent. Favorite Play: "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" by Edward Albee. George and Martha practically make Julian and Ivy look normal. Most Prized Possession: Ethan's birth certificate-especially before his true paternity was revealed. Favorite Part of the Day: When she's soaking in the tub where she can dream away about Sam... Hidden Talent: Ivy is actually an excellent swimmer (despite once almost drowning and being rescued by Sam). Hobbies: Fighting with Rebecca, exchanging insults with Julian, plotting ways to bring down Theresa. Personal Motto: Always go after what you want. Biggest Regret: Marrying Julian and not Sam. Best Qualities: Feisty, strong, passionate about those she cares about Worst Qualities: Selfish, headstrong, and seems to love Ethan more than her other kids! Greatest Accomplishment: Raising Ethan to be a fine young man, despite the fact that he grew up under the Crane roof and under the influence of Julian and Alistair |
