Summary: Sheridan and Luis have to face a very hard time in their lives.
This one is really sad : (

"I'll never let go Jack! I'll never let go!" Sheridan Crane sniffled as she and her boyfriend Luis Lopez-Fitzgerald watched Titanic.

Rose dropped Jack into the water and Sheridan sobbed. Luis laughed at her. "Shut up!" said Sheridan as she blew her nose. That caused Luis to laugh even harder.

A few minutes later, the movie was over and the Celine Dion song started.

Sheridan sniffed and wiped away the mascara that was running down her face. "That was so sad!" she exclaimed.

"You have to be the only person I know who never saw this movie," said Luis with a laugh.

"Yeah," said Sheridan with a smile. "I'm haven't gone to the movies in years, I'm so out of it!" Then she coughed.

Luis looked concerned. "Are you feeling any better?"

Sheridan shook her head. "About the same," she said and coughed again.

"When are you getting those test results back?"

"Dr. Russell said she'd have them for me tomorrow. Don't worry I'm sure there's nothing wrong with me. It's probably just the flu or something."

"I don't know Sheridan you've been like this for a couple weeks now."

Sheridan didn't look well at all. She was pale and hardly eating. And she was always coughing or throwing up.

Luis put his arm around her and rested his head against hers. "I wish I could go with you tomorrow but I have to work."

"I'll tell you how it went when you come home."

The next day Sheridan goes to the hospital for the test results. She was in the waiting room when Dr. Eve Russell called her in.

"Hi Sheridan. I have your test results."

"Great. Well fire away."

Eve's expression went grim. "Sheridan," she said seriously. "I'm not quite sure how to tell you this. But you have a serious heart condition."

"Heart condition?" Sheridan asked confused.

"Yes. I'm afraid you've had it for quite some time. It just wasn't serious yet and I guess you didn't start the symptoms until recently. And all the stress you've been under in the past few years probably didn't do it any good. I just wish we had spotted this sooner."

Sheridan nods slowly. "So what can I do?"

Eve sighs. "Well for now I can give you a prescription for some medicine. Try that for awhile and we'll see how that works. If your condition doesn't improve you might have to have a heart transplant."

Sheridan almost falls off her chair. "A heart transplant?" she whispers.

"Let's not think about that right now," said Eve quickly. "First we'll see if the medicine works." Eve scribbles something on a pad. She hands the paper to Sheridan. "Here get this prescription filled."

Sheridan takes it from her, hands shaking. "Thank you Dr. Russell." she whispers.

Eve squeezes her hand. "Take it easy okay? Try not to overexert yourself. And I want to see you again next week."

Sheridan nods and leaves the hospital in tears.

Luis returned home late that night. "Sheridan? I'm home! Sorry I'm late but" He sees Sheridan sitting on the couch staring at a blank TV screen. "Sheridan? Are you okay?" She turns to face Luis, he could tell she had been crying. "What's wrong?" he asked concerned. "What did the doctor say?"

Sheridan started crying again and told Luis everything Eve told her, including the part about the heart transplant. Luis pulls her into his arms.

"It'll be okay Sheridan," he whispers. "We'll get through this together." He tried to swallow the huge lump in his throat.

Unfortunately Sheridan's condition didn't get any better. She was about the same for the rest of the month. But the next month, she started getting worse. The medicine wasn't helping at all. Then the month after that, she got really sick and had to be taken to the hospital.

Eve said she wanted Sheridan to stay in the hospital for awhile so she keep an eye on her. Eve pulled Luis aside. "Her condition is getting worse, I think we're going to have to consider the heart transplant."

Luis nodded, tears in his eyes.

Eve sighed. "I wish I could have spotted this sooner, but there was really no reason for me to test her for this."

Luis nodded again. "I know, she was always so healthy. Can I see her?"

"Of course."

Sheridan was lying in her hospital bed. "Hi Luis," she said weakly.

Luis smiled sadly. "Hey Sheridan."

"Dr. Russell said I would have to have the transplant."

Luis nodded slowly. "She told me."

Sheridan's eyes started to well up. "What if they can't find a donor?"

Luis walks over to her bedside and takes her hand. "Don't even think like that Sheridan! We'll find a donor. I don't care what I have to do to find one."

Sheridan smiled weakly at him. "You're always trying to save me Supercop." Unfortunately, finding a donor was easier said then done. The next few months were hell for Sheridan and Luis. Luis searched everywhere to find a heart donor. Eve explained to him that not everyone donates their organs after they die.

Sheridan tried to be brave. The past few months were exhausting for Luis. He tried to be with Sheridan as often as he could.

When he couldn't be with her, his mother, Pilar or Sheridan's nephew, Ethan stayed with her. Lots of people came to visit her. Sam, Grace, Kay, and Jessica Bennett, Theresa and Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald, Charity Standish, T.C., Whitney, and Simone Russell, Chad Harris, Gwen Hotchkiss, Ivy Crane and even Julian Crane.

While, Theresa and Ethan were visiting Sheridan one day, Eve pulled Luis aside. "Luis, I still can't find a donor, I'm afraid she doesn't have much time left," said Eve, sadly.

Luis felt as if he was slapped in the face. "We have to keep trying!" he exclaimed.

Eve touched his arm. "Luis, I'll never give up, but we have to face reality, that if we don't find one Sheridan will-"

"Don't even say it!" exclaimed Luis, angrily. Then he stormed into Sheridan's room. Ethan and Theresa said goodbye to Sheridan and Luis and left.

Luis smiled at her. "Hey, how are you doing?"

Sheridan didn't smile back. "Luis, I heard everything Eve said."

Luis' smile faded. "Sheridan I won't give up, we'll find a donor."

Sheridan took his hands. "But in case that doesn't happen, I want to be prepared. I want you and your family and Ethan to have everything I own."

Luis starts to cry. "Don't talk like that!"

Sheridan starts crying too. "I don't want to die!"

Luis holds her while she cries. "I love you Luis," she whispers. Those would be the last words she'd ever say to him.

Sheridan had been asleep for three days. Luis hadn't left her side. He was still wearing the same clothes he wore three days ago. Eve came into the room. "Luis you should really go home and rest. I assure you, she's fine. Everything seems to be in order. She's just tired. She tires easily now."

Luis was about to protest, but then Pilar walked in. "Hijo, listed to Dr. Russell please go home and rest. I promise I will stay with Sheridan."

Luis sighed. "All right, but call me if ANYTHING changes."

Luis kissed Sheridan and reluctantly left the hospital. As he drove, he thought about Sheridan and how he wished things could go back to the way they were. He was so blinded with grief that he didn't even see the car that hit him.

Sirens blared. There were voices all around him. "Luis! Oh God! Luis you're going to be okay! Just hang on!"

"Theresa?" Luis said weakly.

Theresa grabbed his hand as the medics wheeled him into the emergency room. "Luis you're going to be okay!" she said tearfully.

Luis began seeing images of his mother, his father, Theresa, Miguel, and Sheridan. He suddenly remembered Sheridan. "Theresa," said Luis weakly.

"Tell them to give Sheridan my heart."

Theresa shook her head as tears rolled down her cheeks. "No Luis! Stop it! You're going to be okay!"

"Tell Sheridan I lo-"

"Luis? LUIS! Oh God! No!"

Sheridan slowly opens her eyes. She saw a bunch of people surrounding her. She saw Sam, Grace, Ivy, Eve, T.C., Ethan, Theresa, Miguel, and Pilar. "W-Where am I?"

Eve smiled at her. "Sheridan you just had a very successful heart transplant."

"Heart transplant?" She looked around the room, something wasn't right.

"Well, where's Luis? I want to see him. Where is he?" She looked at Pilar and Theresa, who was crying, Miguel was comforting them. Grace was crying too. Ivy was staring at the floor. Suddenly, Sheridan was scared.

Ethan kneeled down beside her bed and took her hand. He took a deep breath. "Sheridan, Luis was in a car accident."

"Oh my gosh! Is he okay?"

Ethan shook his head, with tears in his eyes. "He- he didn't make it."

Sheridan was shocked. "No," she whispered.

Theresa grabbed her other hand. "He wanted you to have his heart Sheridan."

Sheridan placed her hand on her chest. Then she broke down. "Luis!

No!" she sobbed. "NO! YOU'RE NOT DEAD!! COME BACK!!" Pilar ran to her side and held her. "LUIS COME BACK!!" she cried. "LUIS!!"

Ethan told everyone else to leave and left Pilar and Sheridan alone.

Pilar took Sheridan's face into her hands. "Sheridan, Luis loved you with all his heart. But he is not gone." Pilar took Sheridan's hand and placed it on Sheridan's chest. "His spirit will live on. You will always have him with you. He'll be in your heart forever."

It was months later, and Sheridan had fully recovered from her heart surgery. Now she stared out the window and watched the rain fall. She missed Luis terribly. She remembered crashing into his police car, tangoing with him, having many arguments with him, playing basketball with him.

She missed his smile, his laugh, his touch. He had always been there for her, always saving her. He saved her from the French assassins more times then she could count.

It always seemed that he was saving her from something. She found it amazing that even in the last stages of his life, he still managed to save her. Now the rain was stopping and the sky was clearing.

Sheridan looked up at the sky and smiled. "I love you Supercop."

Every night in my dreams I see you, I feel you
That is how I know you go on
Far across the distance and spaces between us
You have come to show you go on
Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
Once more you opened the door
And you're here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on
Love can touch us one time and last for a lifetime
And never let go till we're gone
Love was when I loved you, one true time I hold to
In my life we'll always go on
Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
Once more, you open the door
And you're here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on
You're here, there's nothing I fear
And I know that my heart will go on
We'll stay forever this way
You are safe in my heart
And my heart will go on and on
