Added 7-27-01 Grace Bigamist The Martha Stewart of Harmony is in for a shock this week on Passions. Grace learns she is married to both Sam and David, and that is not a good thing. As the week begins Sam tries to reassure his wife that she is not married to David, insisting he's nothing but a con artist. But a rattled Grace isn't convinced. Later, at the police station Harmony's doctor of all specialities, Eve, runs a psychological test on David. The results cause Eve to quietly worry for her dear friends. This prompts her to administer a polygraph test to David, who sticks to his declaration that he is married to Grace. Poor Grace is stunned when even reveals that David passed his lie-detector test with flying colors. But a disbelieving Sam uses his police training to devise a new way to prove David is lying. Later, as Grace nervously awaits for a fax to confirm whether she and David have a marriage license, she confides in Eve that her worst fear has always been that someone or something from her mysterious past would tumble out of her closet. Then the fax finally comes through. To Sam and Grace's horror, it's a copy of the marriage license itself. Soon, David will reveal more details of the wedding and marriage, but will they jog Grace's memory? Added 7-13-01 "Harmony's first wedding ceremony is one to be remembered," teases James E. Reilly. "It is also the beginning of an adventurous, romantic and explosive summer." The action begins when Ethan's mother, Ivy, receives an advance copy of the offending tabloid. "Ivy gets her hands on it and is just about hating Theresa," shares McKenzie Westmore (Sheridan). In fact, the enraged mother of the groom is determined to kill Theresa for what she's done because it was Ivy's secret that Theresa allegedly exposed. Fortunately for Theresa, Ivy gets trapped in her bedroom by a broken doorknob, so she is waylaid. As the ceremony begins, Sam walks a blissful Sheridan down the aisle, while Tio Francisco escorts Theresa. Once at the alter, the two couples perform Hispanic wedding rituals. "gold coins are passed to signify their shared financial responsibilities as a couple," explains Lindsey Korman (Theresa). "And a (lasso style) rope is placed around the separate couples like a figure eight, to join them together. Its a really sweet tradition." But Ethan and Theresa are concerned about Ivy. "Theresa knows Ivy would never miss her own sons wedding," explains Korman. "She is freaking out on the inside, but trying to stay calm on the outside. So, she asks Father Lonigan if they should be worried." The priest puts her concerns to rest with a gentle reminder that they are on a time schedule. Ethan makes the decision to continue the ceremony without his mom. "Its really important to him that she's there," notes Travis Shuldt, Ethan. "But it gets to the point where he doesn't want to hold up the wedding." They're not waiting for Alistair, Julian or Rebecca to show up because Sheridan uninvited them after wising up to their schemes. "Sheridan has definite anger toward them because they did everything they could do to hurt her and destroy the one thing that's she's always dreamed of having, Luis as her husband," shudders Westmore. To ensure a harmonious ceremony, Luis joins Sheridan in banishing the pesky detractors. "Luis feels the worst is behind them," notes Galen Gering, (Luis). He and Sheridan are getting married and there is nothing Julian and Alistair can do about it. Something might happen the day after the wedding, but for now, its all good." Of course, Luis has no idea that the ring he is about to slip on Sheridan finger could kill her. Back at the Crane mansion, Rebecca fills Julian in on her tabloid scheme, but to her surprise, Alistair threatens to kill her if it interferes with his deadly design for Sheridan. As a nervous Rebecca and Julian watch the ceremony via video camera, a determined Ivy breaks out of her room and hightails it to the church. "Gwen is in the background, checking things out," chuckles Korman, adding, "as far as Theresa's concerned, everything is just wonderful." "To Ethan, his problems with Gwen are solved," agrees Shuldt. Finally Ivy makes her dramatic entrance, and Ethan and Theresa's relief turns to real fear when she marches past her seat and heads straight to the alter. All eyes are on Ivy as she brazenly announces that Theresa deceived her son. Ethan defends his bride and demands that they proceed with the ceremony, unaware, of course that there's a poisoned ring in his beloved Aunt Sheridan's future. "The double wedding is a day that everyone in Harmony has been waiting for...for one reason or another," says Reilly. "Until now, love, romance, and happiness have been victorious over deceit and evil on this special day. But which forces are stronger?" Added 7-12-01 GLOBAL SOAPDISH SPOILERS FROM ELAINE LORING: Timmy and Tabitha take off with Norma hot on their trail, but not before Norma has a chat with skull of her father. Ethan believes in Theresa's innocence until Ivy and Gwen attack her for betraying Ethan. Sam asks Eve to run a psychological test on David to prove he is insane. Added 7-7-01 Soap Opera Weekly: Premarital sex times two: Harmony's two leading couples tempt fate and make love on the eve of their double wedding this week on Passions-blissfully ignorant of the scandal and danger that await them. At the beginning of the week, Theresa worries about jinxing the ceremony when she and Ethan stay together after midnight on the day of their wedding. Ethan calms her nerves, and assures her that it's a silly superstition. Passion between the two builds, and they make love on the beach. Also after midnight, Sheridan admonishes Luis for coming to her cottage on their wedding day. She too worries about bad luck but a playful Luis tempts fate when he convinces his finacee to share one dance. The two get passionate...and end up doing the horizontal tango. Back on the beach, Ethan tells Theresa he's glad they made love, and assures her they won't suffer any karmic repercussions. Little do they know Tabitha is spying on them and notes that both couples are headed for certain disaster. By week's end, Theresa recieves an ominous message about her future, Chad and Whitney learn the tabloid is going to expose Theresa as the one who leaked Ethan's paternity, and Alistair and Julian prepare for Sheridan's deadly nuptials. Added 6-29-01 WILL THERESA BECOME ETHAN'S BRIDE? Poised to reunite in marriage, Ethan and Theresa, as well as Luis and Sheridan, head for the church along with their family and friends for a wedding that will be long remembered in Harmony. Celebrating their love Earlier, Luis and Ethan take over for the hired strippers at Theresa and Sheridan's bachelorette party. Sheridan nearly places the poison-coated wedding ring on her finger. Meanwhile, Ethan and Theresa give into their passion and make love before their wedding day. Afterwards, they bask in the glow. The next morning, Theresa gets dressed for her special day as her aunt and uncle Cristina and Francisco arrive to share the family celebration. Later, Gwen arrives at Sheridan's cottage to help her dress for her wedding day. Theresa's secret exposed In the tabloid office, the newspaper's yet unreleased headline announces that Theresa is Ethan's betrayer. Chad and Whitney have a tension-filled moment at the tabloid office as they face the reporter who exposed Ethan's paternity and plant to reveal Theresa's role in his public embarassment. How will Ethan react if they don't suceed in stopping the story from being printed? Travis Schuldt (Ethan) likes his character's determination "to get married, and his love for Theresa," the actor reveals. "Something strong has been keeping them together in spite of everything that has happened. If he finds out that Theresa knew all along that he wasn't a Crane, he'd be upset. However, I think he'd want to know why she kept it from him. If he believes the reason was good enough, he would probably understand. On the other hand,if he thinks she leaked the life-altering information to the tabloid, that's something else. I think it would take him quite a while to get through that. It will be a true test of their love." Such a betrayal would give his former fiancee Gwen the perfect opportunity to try to reclaim her man. "I think Gwen would definetely be there when his world comes tumbling down around Ethan, saying, 'Look I was here the whole time.' Etahn is very vulnerable to that kind of thing." Shocking Revelations Elsewhere, Grace comes face to face with her stalker David and faints! When Grace later disappears, Sam searches for his wife and eventually arrests David. Meanwhile, as everyone involved with the wedding goes to church, Ivy is the first one to see the tabloid with it's earth shattering headline. What will she do with the damaging paper? Added 6-29-01 ETHAN AND THERESA MAKE LOVE Passions's Theresa promised her mother that she would wait until marriage to have sex-and this week, she does technically speaking. Ethan and Theresa's recent adventures down the road of intimacy invariably led to a stop sign-usually when sexually experience Ethan put on the brakes to keep Theresa's promise to Mama. Not this time. The night before their wedding, Ethan sweeps his fiancee away for some private time. They are at the beach and everything is romantic," shares Travis Schuldt (Ethan). "Then midnight comes around and he gets worried about the groom seeing the bride before the wedding day. "She quickly overcomes the superstition as they talk about how much they love each other and how great the day is going to be. Then, they get caught up in the moment." To say the least, Theresa helps ease Ethan's prior concern regarding premarital sex. She points out that it's their wedding day and it's technically not wrong to make love," notes Schuldt. Obstacle #2 for Ethan is protection, but Theresa has that, er, covered. "Birth control means a green light for Ethan," says the actor. However, the gentleman remains hesitant. After all, this is a big deal for Theresa. "She looks at losing her virginity as a first step into womanhood." continues Schuldt. "Ethan wants it to be special." And it is, "It's pure excitement." teases the actor "All this sexual tension coming to a grand finale." Nothing like starting the honeymoon early. Added 6-29-01 David Confronts Grace Harmony's newest mystery man, David, literally takes Grace's breath away this week on Passions, "I think I faint three times in that Passions day," chuckles Dana Sparks, in character. "He just had this overwhelming effect on me!" When David meets Grace at Tabitha's house, Grace has a premonition that he has gotten rid of her entire family. She screams and passes out. "It's like, 'Wait, I just saved my family from hell, and I got my man back from the woman from hell, and now you're going to take my family away?'" says Sparks with a laugh. "There's no grace period for Grace!" David gets away before Sam arrives. Unfortunately, Grace hasn't seen the last of David, consciously or unconsciously. The next day, while she's sleeping in Tabitha's house, David sneaks into the room and looms over her. "Grace tosses and turns and has a nightmare that someone is in her room. When Sam shows up David is nowhere to be seen. Sam finds Grace and assures her that her dream wasn't real. "He has to think that I'm still freaked out from what happened at our home. I mean, after you've been to hell, every bump in the house is going to sound like something," offers Sparks. "So he goes through his police steps and checks it out, but he sees nothing wrong, and thinks 'Look, we're probably looking for Indians behind every bush.'" Sparks can't wait to play Grace's mysterious back story. "What's cool is that I'm afraid for Grace--that all this stuff she's in Sam's and Ivy's faces is going to come back at her now. She's been talking all about their past but still doesn't know about hers. You don't want to be the first one to throw stones ... but she was." Added 6-28-01 TV Guide Spoilers As the week begins, one of the brides to be, Theresa, makes a bold move to keep her dirty little secret from Ethan. Things are far more deadly for bride No. 2, Sheridan, who is poised to fall into a fatal trap set by her own family. Meanwhile, Sam leads the hunt after a dastardly new face in Harmony kidnapsGrace and a supernatural showdown at the Crane estate leaves one life in jeopardy and Harmony's most terrible twosome on the run. Added 6-28-01 Julian serves Ivy with divorce papers. Despite the fact that Sheridan and Luis, Theresa and Ethan's wedding rehearsal is underway, and everyone seems headed for happiness, little do they know Alistair and Julian are preparing to kill Sheridan and destroy Luis. They're ready to watch it all happen in the church. Look for Tabitha to help Sheridan in her darkest moments. The dark forces come to life in front of Tabitha and Timmy. The tabloid reporter confirms that the news that Theresa was the one who betrayed Ethan will be front page news on her wedding day. There will be some pre-emptions of Passions next week due to events at Wimbledon, but to make up for that, we'll get to see Luis and Ethan take over for the hired strippers at Theresa and Sheridan's bachelorette party. Added 6-22-01 Alistair plots to poison Sheridan: With a dad like Alistair, who needs enemies? This week on Passions, daddy dearest follows through with his plan to kill his own daughter. As the week begins, Luis and Sheridan revel in their reconciliation after figuring out that Alistair and Julian tried to split them up. Still very suspicious of his future in-laws, Luis combs Sheridan's cottage and discovers a bug planted by Alistair. Livid that Luis and Sheridan have foiled him again, Alistair tells Julian they have no other choice but to kill Sheridan...now. "I keep saying, 'Please, Father, don't do this!'" says Ben Masters, in character as Julian. "I try to be sympathetic as I'm planning to kill her. In a perfect world, Julian would throw Alistair out a third story window. It's like a modern day Shakespearean tragedy." Alistair orders Julian to coat Sheridan's wedding ring with an undetectable poison. Although Rebecca has been Julian's steady partner-in-crime for some time, this is one mission that Julian must fly solo. "This is a secret between Alistair and myself," Masters whispers. "She doesn't know everything. She doesn't know what happened to Martin Fitzgerald - and if she learns, then I might have to kill her too." By weeks end, friends and family gather for the wedding rehearsal. Alistair and Julian watch with anticipation from the shadows until they are caught by Pilar, who demands to know what they are up to. Meanwhile, in another part of the church, Charity doubles over in pain, as if she's been poisoned. Has Alistair and Julian's plan to knock off Sheridan killed Charity instead? Tough of Evil: Could Alistair's plan to kill Sheridan with an undetectable poison on Passions really work? "There aren't too many things where very, very small quantities of exposure, especially on the skin, can cause serious toxicity: it just doesn't happen," says Dr. Bruce Anderson, director of the Maryland Poison Center at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. "You need more of the substance, more of the exposure -- or at least another route of administration-in order to make people sick. The likelihood of this would be something that would do someone in right away after this type of exposure is pretty remote. There is a pretty short list of toxins that are so rapid-acting that a small quantity would be enough to cause immediate symptoms. I would think about things like chemical weapons-and in that instance, no one would be able to handle it safely without a lot of protective gear, so anyone who was in the room would develop symptoms as well." It also would be very difficult for someone to obtain that type of substance, too. "Certainly it's not something your going to find at a 7-Eleven," Anderson quips. "It's hard to get because it is so toxic it takes special equipment and training to make sure people don't get exposed to it." "Whoever was providing the ring that was poisoned would get exposed to it," Anderson adds. "If it's that potent to get through your skin, it's also volatile. It's probably been designed for use as a chemical weapon, so that means it's not going to just stay where it is at normal room temperature -- little bits of it are going to be released into the air. You will have multiple bodies dropping." Would the toxin be undetectable? Doubtful. "Pretty much everything is detectable if you know what you're looking for. It's just a matter of knowing what to look for." |
