TITLE: Eternal Flame AUTHOR: LJSAngel EMAIL: [email protected] DISCLAIMER: Song is not mine; and "Well, Gosh" neither are the Scoobies or the Fang Gang. TIMELINE: After "To Shanshu In LA" and "Restless" works best i suppose. I am revisiting the long gone past for my convience again :-) However, it's a year or so into the future. No season five or season two AtS happened yet. Sorry. SPOILERS: Up to and including that Timeline. SYNOPSIS: Buffy and Angel argue.. Over the End of Days..It's the EOD now and Riley's kicking about. Angel returns to the Hellmouth to save Buffy but she don't wanna be saved. AUTHOR'S NOTES: Remember what Mohra said? Huh? And know how Angel had to survive all these fiends and plagues in To Shanshu In LA before humanizing, well I don't care. He has to survive the End Of Days... First attempt at an oblique dream sequence. A different sort of narrative. More surreal and weird. But soft and romantic (well in my opinion but since when did that count for anything?) Rather like "Amends" 'cept no biting. Italics in the dream sequences are song words. Angel Invest. are in the Hyperion though. // flashback // INSPIRATION NOTES: While listening to my old 'Love Is Forever' LP, the Bangles Eternal Flame came on. Thought of the End of Days, Buffy, Angel and how they'd deal. FEEDBACK: Feedback is the greatest gift, believe me. I loooove feedback. In fact, I'll sell my mother for some feedback from you. Every feedback is like the first (honestly.) Your Nation Needs You to Feedback! RELATIONSHIPS: Buffy/Angel Buffy/Riley RATING: PG-13 for vagued up sex. CONTENT: Angst - I have to warn you, it's not gonna be pretty. A-N-G-S-T. Hard raw angst. DEDICATION: To the Bangles, wherever they may be now (*grin*) it's a really pretty song.
Eternal Flame
"So then we decided, we're not getting enough leverage so we," Anya described into detail to Buffy and an amused Riley in her house. Xander was shuffling his feet, saying 'An' quietly, begging her to stop with news of their latest sexcapeds. "An-ya!" He said loudly. "What? They might learn something," Anya defended. Riley placed a hand on Buffy's back and let out a uproarious laugh. Buffy turned to him. "No seriously Riley, we could learn something," she told him. "Really? You don't think I'm all that?" He teased, kissing her earlobe. "Well, I.. Just.. We could try new stuff," Buffy stammered. "Oh forget it." "If you want right now.." Riley purred and kissed her deeply. Buffy traced her fingers down his jaw and kissed him deeply back. "We can.." He murmured softly between kisses. "Try out something new." Riley leaned so close that when Buffy pulled away, he tumbled off the chair and spread onto the floor. Buffy held out a hand and pulled him up to standing point without trying. "OK Xander, that is worse than us," Anya told him loudly. "Yeah. Riley's a much bigger dork than I've ever been," Xander announced. Riley flashed him a sarcastic grin. "Thanks man." "Anytime," Xander waved a hand. "So we should go An. If we wanna make the reservations." "It's our two year anniversary of our first date at the Prom," Anya said rubbing Xander's chest affectionately. Buffy nodded as she remembered the Prom. It took her Hell to get there, but when she had made it, it had been so worth it. For a Class Protector award and well.. When he appeared at the door and Giles gestured to him gently, Buffy felt herself come alive for the first time since he had broke up with her in the sewers. Everything in her body fizzled and sparked when he was near. It danced and screamed his name at the top of her voice when he touched her. And as he held her, she no longer felt as dead as she had the past few days, but completely whole. Even if it was only for a night, a dance, a minute, it would be want she always needed. Until he left and she needed more. "That's great for you guys," Riley congratulated, bringing Buffy out of her thoughts. "Y-Yeah." Xander and Anya stood up and went to Buffy's door. "See you tomorrow Buffster," Xander said, as he left. "Well Buffy and Riley seem to have as much chemistry as two very dead batteries don't they?" Anya observed as they walked to Xander's car. "You know it's always been like that," Xander reminded her. "It's not her fault. OK so maybe it's you-know-undead-whos fault." "I know but.. Well.. We're not like that." "No!" Xander said opening the door for her. "We sizzle," she said. "You bet we do," Xander agreed heartily, going to his side. He leaned over to the passenger seat and held her face for a kiss. "We're hot An." "And the sex is fantastic," she reminded him. "I love how you do that," he grinned starting the engine. "And you're incredible," she went on smirking. "Together we'd win everything in the sex-lmypics." "Which would probably be illegal and completely skanky." Xander started the engine and then heard thunder rumble in the sky. One drop of pure red blood hit the windscreen. Anya's eyes widened and Xander craned his neck. "Is that.." Anya started. "Probably a wounded bird flying overheard. Nothing to worry about. Unless you wanna worry about the wounded bird." Then another drop fell on the glass. Then another. And another spot. Soon the blood rain was pelting down on the car and everywhere else around. Xander panicked and turned on the wipers. The blood was spread over the entire glass and it did nothing to help visibility. "Oh God," he whispered. "I've seen this movie Xander," Anya said shakily. "OK, An, look at me," he decided turning to her. "Concentrate on each other and pretend that a Vampires paradise isn't raining down from heaven." Anya focused on her boyfriend but her eyes strayed over his shoulder to the window where blood was trickling down. "I don't wanna stay in here Xander," she told him. "Umbrella?" "In the back. You use it." Anya opened the door and pushed up the umbrella while Xander pulled his jacket over his head. They ran into Buffy's house once again and shut the door behind them. "What is it?" Buffy asked Xander coming down the stairs. Riley was watching TV. "Look outside," Xander invited. Buffy went over to the sofa and RIley turned round. She pulled back the curtain and saw the blood showers. "Oh God." "Yeah!" Xander emphasized. "We were in that." "It's apocalypse time," Buffy sighed. "Again." "So we should shower Xander," Anya suggested. "Buffy?" "Sure, sure," she waved her hand. "Xander. Maybe we should shower together.. For quickness," Anya suggested. "Sure. For quickness."
"Angel! I think I may have found something.." Wesley yelled from his desk. Angel rushed to his side. "No, no. That's wrong. Sorry." "keep going," Angel urged. A contact had said a prophecy would come to pass soon. They needed to find out what it was. Then a distinct female voice from the lobby shouted their names in quick succession followed by an strung together sentence of no cohesion. "Huh?" Angel asked. "I said," Cordelia started again. "Oh my God, oh wow, it's totally cracking up up there," she said going extra slow. "Meaning?" Wesley asked. "There's.. Um.. What do you call 'em..? Sky quakes. Yes. Definite sky quakes," Cordelia reported. "Those haven't been seen since..." Wesley wondered "An apocalypse," Angel interjected. "I have a bad feeling about this." "I hate that," Cordelia growled. "Find som--" Angel started. "Got it!" Wesley announced. "Oh. What?" "The Fighter shall sacrifice ones own life, and the mouth of Hell shall reseal and no more demons shall plague the earth," Wesley read from the scroll. "That sounds like--" "The End of Days," Angel finished. "Fighter?" Cordelia questioned. "Slayer. Fighter was used in primitive demon cultures as a word for Slayer as they never had a 'y'. Or the speech capability to say a 'y'." "No. It could be Warrior.. Or.." Angel mumbled. // The End of Days has begun, Mohra hissed. // // What happens to the Slayer when these Soldiers come? What happens all mortal beings. Albeit sooner in her case. // The phone ringing cut through Angel's thoughts. He quickly picked it up. "Angel Investigations." "Angel--" "Giles. Is Buffy OK?" Angel asked immediately. Was this it? The phone call he'd been dreading? "She's fine," he said edgily. "Shouldn't she be?" "Giles, you know. About the End Of Days. It's now." "It's tomorrow actually," Giles told him, sighing. "The End of Days has come. When the Hellmouth expels the energy it needs to destroy the world." "How do we stop it?" Angel asked. "I've been reading the Codex," Giles said with difficulty. "Does the name Warrior mean anything to you?" Angel nodded then remembered he was on the phone. "Yeah. It does." "Is it.." "It's me. So I'm supposed to stop it? In Sunnydale." "At the mouth of Hell." "We have a prophecy about the 'Fighter'. I thought.. It was Buffy. But it's not." "The Fighter usually refers to the Sl--" "Let's not Giles. We're leaving now."
Angel, Wesley and Cordelia arrived at Buffy's house 90 minutes later. Not a lot of people drove when it was raining toads. Cordelia went to see if she could help Willow and Xander. Riley was upstairs in Buffy's room, sleeping. Buffy and Angel, who hadn't even greeted each other yet, stayed in Buffy's living room with the two ex-Watchers debating the prophecies. "Go over it again," Buffy told Giles, hoping the words would melt and become untrue. "In this one it says, And the Warrior will bleed, the mouth of Hell shall close and bring down the final act in the End of Days," Giles read from the Codex for an eighth time. "Warrior! That's me," Angel said triumphantly looking at Buffy, with his arms crossed. "It's not you Buffy. The Warrior is what the Oracles called me." "This one says The Fighter shall sacrifice ones own life, and the mouth of Hell shall reseal and no more demons shall plague the earth," Wesley read from the Scroll of Aberjian. "Fighter. That would be me right? I've heard a few books refer to a Slayer as the Fighter. That is so me Angel and don't try to change my mind," Buffy told him in a strong tone. "It's not about changing your mind Buffy, it's about who's right and who's wrong. And right now, I am so right and you are so wrong!" "Nut uh," Buffy contested. "Oh that's a mature comeback," Angel said sarcastically. "Oh bite me. No wait. You did. And then left." Angel narrowed his eyes. "It's the Codex. There's nothing in it that doesn't come to pass. Right Giles?" He called on Buffy's ex-Watcher, but not taking his eyes off his petite Slayer. "Angel's right Buffy," Giles cleared his throat. "There's nothing that doesn't come to be in the Codex." "Well it's.. wrong!" Buffy came out with. "Plain wrong this time. Angel you're not going to die. When it comes to it, I will be the one." "No you won't!" He overruled her. "Conversation OVER." "It is never over Angel. Or did you forget that?" She sniped. "This time it is Buffy." "Wh--What about this scroll? How reliable is it?" She demanded an answer from Wesley. "Q-quite," he stuttered. "There are a few prophecies and.. Angel in the passage about you.. It doesn't mention this. I think you have to face up to--" "NO!" He yelled at Wesley. "What passage?" Giles asked. "There's an entire passage on the Vampire With A Soul in the scroll," Wesley explained as Angel huffily crossed his arms and stared at Buffy. "I don't think it's Angel that dies because-- Well.." "Wesley let's.. Not," Angel told him. "Angel it's very impo--" Wesley insisted. "And I don't think Buffy has to hear it!" Angel spoke over him. "And maybe you should stop editing everything down to PG-13 for me Angel," Buffy snapped. "What Wesley?" "After the coming--" "La la la la," Angel sang off key. "I'm not listening and neither is anyone else.." "I am. Go on." "Angel's to--" "Look outside there, raining toads, wow would you look at that," Angel whistled in admiration. "Wesley!" Angel sang a few more notes over Wesley so Buffy couldn't hear. "Angel's to become human!" Wesley raised his voice above the din. "What?" Buffy squeaked. "Human," Angel repeated holding his arms out wide. "Mortal. Flesh and blood human. Of the living. Un-Undead. Real. Breathing. Heartbeat. All of it," he said loudly as Buffy covered her mouth slowly. "Then again it doesn't matter because you're with Captain Dead-head who's upstairs taking forty. So I guess there's no point." "Human? Is it possible?" Giles asked. "It's his reward." "Which I'm not gonna get because tomorrow tonight, I'm going offer myself to Hell and it's gonna close the mouth and everyone's gonna be shiny happy people again," Angel stormed out of the room into the kitchen. Where he was about to stomp out of the back door except for the reason it was raining toads. "Angel.." Buffy murmured as she walked into the kitchen. He was standing by the door, arms folded and biting a huge chunk out of his cheek. "I'm sorry. Don't know what for, but I am sorry. And," she paused before hitting his arm. He jumped and yelped. "Why didn't you tell me?" "About what?" "You know fine what Mr Gonna-Be-Human." "You're with Riley." "Great excuse for not picking up a phone. Really." "Buffy, what do you want from me? I can't give you anything! I can't do anything!" "Yes you can. What happened to forever? Huh? Where the hell did forever go?" "I--Um.." "What I want from you.. I thought I could never have. But I can Angel. After you--" "Become human? Buffy, I'm gonna die tomorrow night." "Not if I beat you to it," she smiled touching a healing cut on his forehead. "How'd you get that?" "Toad," he said in a low voice. "Oh," she said and continued to feel it. She moved down to his cheek, placing her full hand over the side of his face, the way she had before she kissed him and sent him to Hell. Remember that song, 'hold me, thrill me, kiss me, kill me'? Exactly like that Buffy thought to herself. As their gaze locked, Buffy tip toed up to Angel. "Buffy.. What are you doing?" She spun round quickly. "Riley." "What the Hell..? I thought this was cuz he was gonna die.. You thought you'd give him something to remember you by huh?" Riley said enraged, clenching his fists. "Do that Buffy - And you can forget about me." With that, he turned on his heel and walked out of the Summers house. Buffy flinched at the door slamming and turned back to Angel. "I should sleep. Big day tomorrow with the sacrifice and all." "Don't make me argue with you again Buffy," Angel told her. "Don't you get it Angel? If you die again, I've nothing to live for. My Soul dies with yours." With that, she turned around and left the kitchen, retreating to her room. Angel sighed, watching her go. He and Giles went to Giles's apartment with Wesley to rest for the End Of Days.
A room. Candles burning brightly, flickering in spite of the fierce wind. Thunder cracks outside. Lighting strewn across the sky. This is like their first time. Buffy opens her eyes and sees him there, sitting on the bed. She gazes at Angel, who raises his head slowly to see her appearance. "Buffy," he murmurs the way he also has. the huskiness of his voice with the hint of need and the intention to get down on his knees and pleading to be near her. She takes another step and scans the room again. It's his room. His basement apartment with no natural light. It flickers for a second. The room mutates in shape to that of Her bedroom. Where there are no candles. Just their window and a blonde boy sleeping in Her bed. He does not belong there. He does not belong in this world. He does not belong with her. As quickly as the room shifted the first time, it changes back. Angel is still sitting there patiently. He outstretches his large hand. She steps towards him and he stands up, waiting. Always waiting. He has been waiting for centuries for her. And three years since he last felt her beneath him. Close your eyes He reaches forth and gently shuts each eyelid with his fingers. He kissed each of them and she feels the way she hasn't for far too long. Safe. Loved. Needed. Desired. Everything to someone. Give me your hand She finally places her hand in his, a perfect fit. They have always fit together perfectly. He brings her, blind, to their bed. He sits back down and brings her on top of him. Soon they are naked together. Scents mingling. Whispers of forever. Whispers of something better. Whispers of eternal love. Tears of joy being smoothed away as she becomes hotter. Flesh pressed together, he kisses her constantly. Never stopping telling of her of her unknown beauty; outside and in. How he will always love her. She reaches up and traces the contours of his face with her hand, smoothing it all over with her palm. She kisses his unblemished skin as they quicken in pace. He entwines their fingers and she grips his palm closer in need. He releases her palm and brings it over to his bare chest. His chest that emanates of love and warmth. Warmth and heat. Do you feel my heart beating? As she feels the familiar but forgotten *thump thump* *thump thump*, her eyes fill with raindrops. She sheds them on Their pillow as he smiles. Do you understand? He doesn't know how or why. Neither does she. He continues to worship her, pulling her closer, never letting her out of his grasp. She screams his name again, breathing sincere words of love in the aftermath. She never wants to leave his arms. Do you feel the same? He has always loved her. Before he knew her, he loved her. Dreamt of her. And he tells her so. He promises again how he will never leave her. She believes him. In this place, Their Place, she believes him. She knows they will never leave each other. They will stay together even in death. Am I only dreaming or is this burning an Eternal Flame? They Are Forever.
Angel woke up gasping for breath and sat up immediately. Without thinking he grabbed his pants and pulled the on. He was still fixing his shirt as he grabbed his car keys and ran out Giles's house. Buffy woke up, her face feeling hot and the sheets sticking embarrassingly to her thighs and body with sweat. She gulped down the glass of water by her bed and stared out the window. She wished for him to be there, to watch over her. Buffy thought she would welcome his old cryptic warnings of danger more than she would her human boyfriends embrace right now. Riley was at home; Still furious about before. 'As well he should' A voice from the trees whispered. Not his voice though. Never his voice again. Buffy lay back down, and closed her eyes. Trying to recapture the dream. Find a way back into the dream where Angel was human and they were together.
She's in her own room now. The moonlight shining through the window, creating a circle of white light in the darkness. She sees him. His silhouette from out of the window. He's nestled in the crook of the tree where he would watch over her from. He watches her carefully, filling himself in her appearance. then she waits. Waits for him to say something. Do something. Make his presence officially know. Though he knows she sees him. Her eyes burn him like Holy Water used to. But Holy Water cannot touch or harm him now. As is the cross impotent. Everything succumbs to his perfect existence like she did the first time she saw him. Their meeting was not by chance. She knew it was fate. They are made from the same mould, cruelly cut apart by fate. Nothing is right until they are completed with each other. I believe it's meant to be, darling She feigns yawning and pulls back the soft blankets of the bed she and the dark haired Slayer made earlier. Then she lies down, feeling the silk like softness caressing her body. She closes her eyes and waits to feel his presence enter the room. Waits for every cell in her to explode as he climbs in to watch her more closely. I watch you when you are sleeping He doesn't wait long. He eases in the open window, always there for him. She has to keep calm so he won't leave when he notices she is not asleep. Of course he knows she is awake as he. It's a game. A tender game in which he comes across to her bedside and brushed her hair away from her warm face. His touch no longer sends a cold shiver down her spine, but a warm one. And when he leans forward to kiss her forehead, she sighs ever so softly. He takes her hand possessively in his and sits in his chair. You belong with me As she belongs to him, they belong to each other. Not to the world fighting.. They never belonged to anyone but each other. She would never allow that. And how they fight to stay apart. Fight not to give in. But not anymore. They don't have to anymore. Everything will be all right, he tells her. Do you feel the same? As always, they think alike, and feel the same. She would give her life for his as he would unquestioned, for her. Am I only dreaming or is this burning an Eternal Flame? As she opens her eyes, she expects to be in Their World. But she is not. She is awake.
"Buffy," Angel murmurs as he strokes her face. "I-I only dreamt you to be here," Buffy tells him with difficulty. "I came because.. It's my last night.." "My last night." "Let's not argue Buffy. I just wanted to spend it watching you sleep." "You had the first dream too, didn't you?" "Yes," he nodded. "I did." "I don't want it to be a dream." "I don't think Angelus would wanna--" "No. Come lie beside me. Hold me in your arms Angel. Make me feel the way you do. Like I matter. Like I am somebody." "You are Buffy." "I don't believe it unless you hold me," she told him fighting the lump rising. He nodded and removed his jacket, shoes and shirt leaving his vest and pants. As Buffy held open the blanket, he slide inside Turning to the Slayer, he immersed himself in her as she enclosed him in an embrace to last as long as they wanted although it would have to be over by morning.
Riley woke up and decided he was being stupid. There was nothing between Buffy and Angel anymore. He knew that Buffy loved him dearly. He rehearsed what to say to her to apologize as he drove to her house. Oh the way, he bought a bouquet of flowers at a stall and wrote a romantic and apologetic card with it. He straightened himself out as he walked up the path. He snuck in quietly. Riley knew she was alone in the house and wanted to surprise her. Climbing the stair quietly, he reached her bedroom door. He opened it, smiling widely. Riley dropped the flowers and his jaw followed suit. Buffy. Angel. In bed. With their arms around each other. Both with a look of happiness unrivalled by anything Riley had brought to her face. She was nestled in his neck and his chin ruled over her head. Perfect fit. Riley had to leave, get out of there as quickly as he could. He ran for everything he was worth and slammed the door shut on his exit. He was so desperate to get to his car, he didn't notice the sun disappearing in a solar eclipse.
Come on baby dry your
eyes, wipe your tears
"Can I ask you something?" Angel said softly to his Love who was lying next to him. She nodded. "Why Riley?" "He wasn't a complete jerk. He managed to make me stop thinking about you for a minute or two.. He was there. I needed something Angel." "I know that.. I just.. I wondered why him." "I've always wondered why me. Why did you fall in love with me Angel?" "Because one look at you, everything about you, made me a better person. Someone. You are something so bright and special Buffy. And I couldn't help falling in love with you as I watched you cry when your parents were arguing downstairs. I wanted to stop you hurting. I wanted to--" Angel wept. "Sshh," Buffy calmed. "You wanna know why you?" He nodded. "Because you have a beautiful Soul. And you are so much the man you think I deserve to be with. I know you're not doing this to chalk up 'Saved' to 'Killed' ratios. you do it because you wanna help. Oh and you're tall, dark, handsome in an annoying sort of way." "So you still love me?" He asked, through tears. "How can you even ask me that?" She replied gently. "I love you Angel." "Then I'll take that to the grave." "Which will be in a zillion years time." "Buffy you know.." "Codex.. yada bloody yada," she said throwing the blankets off. She saw a bunch of flowers in the doorway. "Riley was here." "I'm sorry." "Why?" "He saw us." "I'm not," Buffy told him. "I should go," Angel decided. "Stay home tonight." "Angel we're just gonna argue again. Let's leave it at I'll See You Soon."
The End of Days
As demons and people lay wounded around the Sunnydale High's old library, Angel sliced his way through to the hole. Xander clutched at his stomach wound and prayed for release. Buffy left everyone safely behind a rock cluster. They knew what she was doing. Willow let monsoons of tears loose, Giles crumbled, Xander forgot about his pain and became inconsolable. Wesley and Cordelia crawled to where the Scoobies where watching the demons being killed three at a time by Buffy. Soon, every demon lay dead. Buffy went to the edge leaving death in her wake. She looked back up and saw Angel. "I'm going," he stated clearly. "No," she gritted her teeth. "Buffy it's the only way," Angel swallowed looking down into the glistening energy emanating from the hellmouth. It was Rising. And when it appeared, it would destroy them all. Everything would be dragged down to the hell depths and suffer eternal torment. "No Angel. No. Dammit you've already died once.." "Twice Buffy. When I became a vampire and the going to Hell," he reminded her with a sad smile. "I mean when i've been here!" She yelled back at him over the noise. The otherworldly wailing screaming from the pits of Hell. "I already let you die.. Killed you once.." "And you've died once too. Don't argue. Just kiss me goodbye," he told her dropping his sword at his feet. Riley, Wesley, Willow, Cordelia all watched from the rocks. Riley made a move to go out. "No," Wesley told him. "You'll die." "She's about to--" "Leave them," Wesley told him in a firmer voice. "Can't you see it between them, man?" "Angel no, Angel," Buffy shook her head strongly. "You kiss me goodbye." "There's no way you're sacrificing yourself," Angel roared. Usually, Buffy would have shrunk several inches hearing his voice like that but she stood taller. "You're NINETEEN YEARS OLD!" "I DON'T GIVE A DAMN ANGEL!" She screamed back at him. Angel's facial expression softened and he stepped closer to her and hunched down. He used his thumb to dry away her tears and cracked an unhappy smile as tears poured down his own face. "I love you Buffy. I have always loved you. And I will never stop. I love everything about you. You are my girl," he told her, his eyes filling up with so much tears he couldn't see her. He shook them away and saw that she was in a similar state. "You're always gonna be my girl." He leaned down and kissed her deeply, with an insane passion and an ever burning need for her. As the kiss ended, Buffy shook, her arms unsure to wrap them round his neck or his waist. She wandered all over his body, crying inconsolably again. "I'm always gonna be your girl Angel. God, I love you so much," Buffy choked out. She reached up and kissed her Love tenderly, their tears and desperation mixing together. Angel kissed her once more, lingeringly and then held her tightly, watching the Hell rise beneath them. He shook his head furiously. Then he met her lips in a final embrace. "I love you," he told her and then without warning, threw her up against the old Sunnydale library wall. Buffy skidded across the floor and looked up at Angel, helplessly and annoyed. She knew what he was doing. He looked at her softly, nodding, and whispering her name. Then he turned and ran three steps and took a dive down into the Hellmouth. "ANGEL!" Buffy shrieked. She scrambled to her feet but felt someone grab her round the waist. "No, no no," she struggled. She threw back her head and broke the attackers nose. He cried out and let her go. Buffy ran to where she and Angel had been standing and turned back to see it was Riley's nose she had broken. She looked at everyone there. "I'm sorry," she swallowed and turned back round. She took the same steps Angel had, stretching her body out, and dove head first into the hole. "Buffy!" Willow cried out. Xander quickly pulled his shell shocked childhood friend to his chest, She couldn't stop staring at the hole. the Hellmouth that not only robbed her of so many classmates, but the mouth that swallowed her Best Friend and her Soulmate. The Mouth Of Hell.
Angel felt the energy hold him as he spiralled down the Hellmouth. He was fixed in the air, letting it charge through his blood, using his life-force to shut the Mouth forever. Angel screamed her name in agony, before hearing anguished cries from his beloved herself. I'm imagining it. Then he saw her. Her body being surrounded by the electricity. He willed himself to her. Pushing against the hard rock side of the hole, he moved across to her. Angel gripped her hand and her eyes opened, stunned. Then she smiled sadly. Buffy managed to grip his sweater neck and pull them closer together. They held each other closely, weeping softly as the red energy pulled them slowly down to Hell. She burrowed her head in Angel's shoulder and he pulled her tighter. Then the energy fizzled out. It evaporated and they were once again free falling. But holding onto each other. Nothing in Heaven, Hell or on Earth would part them as they fell to their death and into Hell. In the end, she saw his eyes,
his face, heard his voice whispering to her and then nothing more.
// "You'll be in
love till it kills you both. You'll fight and you'll shag, and you'll hate
each other till it makes you quiver, but you'll never be friends. Love
isn't brains, children. Its blood. Blood, screaming inside you to
work its will!" //
// “How did you find me here?” “If I was blind, I would see you.” “Stay with me?” “Forever.
That's the whole point. Ill never leave. Not…even if you kill me.” //
Close your eyes
THE END
God I hate angsty endings,
don't you? *sob*
