| :: Why Aragorn and Arwen :: It is quite funny that I've even become a fan of the couple Aragorn and Arwen, because in the beginning I was a huge fan of Aragorn and Eowyn, and really wanted those two characters to be together. You see, Tolkien's original plans were to have Aragorn marry Eowyn, but he later changed his plans and paired Eowyn with Farimir. It was really 'The Return Of The King' that made me realize that Arwen was the one that Aragorn truly loved. He was constantly thinking of her, and she was the one thing that got him through all of the hardships and turmoil during the war of the ring. When it was over and done, and Aragorn became king, Arwen arrived healthy and well accompanied by other elves. The look on Aragorn's face when he saw her and the kiss that they shared was enough to leave me breathless. This was love, this was passion. OH, to be Arwen.... Another amazing thing about this couple is the fact that Arwen is giving up everything to be with Aragorn. She is essentially giving up her life, because remaining in Middle-Earth with him means she is giving up her immortality. She wants only to be with him and to love him..."I would rather spend one lifetime with you than live all the ages of the earth alone." What really sealed the deal as far as my love of the Aragorn/Arwen relationship was when I read the tale of how they met and fell in love. This wasn't included in the movie, so reading about it in the book really helped me to understand their relationship a lot better. To read it and see what I mean, click here. |
