Outside the Box
Come stand this side of the glass and tell me what you see,
just a faceless shadow of the man you've tried to be.
I see you from my corner of the box tho you haven't got a clue,
just a faceless shadow of the boy you once knew.
You've left behind your innocence, stepped into a dirty place,
where you live out your fantasies and no one knows your face.
Where is the child within you, been shot down in cold blood,
deleting all your memories tho it won't do you any good.
I watch you from my corner of the box as you stand so confused,
looking so lost and vacant cos you've been beaten and abused.
Your mind so f*****d and played with all that's left is empty space
armed with distant memories from when you stood in another place.
So come stand this side of the glass and tell me what you see,
no reflection mirrored back cos there's only you and me.
Memories been remembered, promises made and broken,
who's gonna hear you when you ask to be forgiven?
Who can stop the noises in your head, flick a switch and make it black,
like an ongoing record the continuous static of a broken track.
Stand this side of the glass - face yourself and tell me what you see,
perhaps a distorted image of the one you longed to be.
The glass may now be splintered and broke a duplicate of your mind,
for you now have a blackened heart without vision you are blind.
So feed the worm within you for you're its parasite,
you cannot function day to day, only safe in the shadows of night.
I observe you from my corner of the box, I see your transparent need
to help break the chains that bind you in hope you can now be freed.
Let me give my hand for balance while you walk on shattered glass
just a self-fulfilling prophecy only a line, just a farce.
Remove the corruption from your reflection and slay the demons in your head,
didn't anyone ever tell you if you've stopped dreaming, then you're dead?
