Korat

The Korat (pronounced
ko-RAHT) is a small cat known for its sleek, silvery blue coat,
heart-shaped face, and prominent peridot green eyes.
Korats originated in
Thailand, where they are regarded as "good luck" or "si-sawat" cats. This
is a very old breed with a documented history going back to at least the
14th century. They were never sold in their homeland, but were often given
as gifts in pairs. All registered, pedigreed
Korats can trace their lineage back to Thailand. Korats are energetic,
intelligent, and affectionate companions. They are somewhat clannish and
prefer the company of their own kind. They are never outcrossed to other
breeds, nor was any other breed used in their development. Pictures of
Korats from paintings hundreds of years old look startlingly like Korats
living today. The
Korat is accepted by CFA, TICA, CFF, ACFA, and FIFe.
