I think that this will be one of the
pre-ending chapters. I know that 15
was short, I guess you could call it one of those 'setting up' chaps. ^^

Notes:
Who are the two strange 'visitors' in Relena's room? What was her final
decision? Will Yuki-hime ever stop writing? Well, no to the last one! ^^

Chapter 16: Too Soon, Too Late
By Yuki-hime^^
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wufei looked at Sally who looked at Lady Une who stared at the
blank intercom.
'What's going on?' Lady Une thought to herself.
"I'm leaving," Wufei said as he turned and walked out the door.
"What did she mean?" Sally asked, a little
confused about what
had just been said.
"I think, I think Heero is going to kill Relena," she whispered.
Sally's eyes widened. 'The peace will surly be destoried then.'
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
"What in the hell was he thinking?" Zechs screamed at Noin.
"You don't understand!"
"The hell I do!" he said as he walked past her.
"You didn't even listen to what I just said. He's only going to
shoot her! He won't kill her, don't you understand!" Noin screamed at him.
"Over my dead body!"
"No Zechs. It'll be over Relena's," Noin hissed as she walked
out
and slammed the door behind her.
"Dammit!" he cursed as he sat down at the intercom. A lot of things
had happened when Heero contacted Noin. He obiviously trusted her a lot more
than the others. 'She's too understanding,' he thought
to himself.
"Maybe," he whispered but trashed the thought as he realized he had
considered it. "What the hell am I thinking?"
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Relena woke to the sound of voices. They seemed to be coming from
the balcony. She slipped off the bed quietly and walked to the double french
doors. When she peered out, there was no one. Curious to what was outside
now, she opened the doors and stepped out.
What stood before her was a scene that could only be out of a story-
book. The trees were a fire with color. The reds, oranges and yellows
blended into the faint greens of what was left of the summer. Autumn was
coming.
'How long has it been?' she thought to herself. She'd took
on the
job of peace three years ago. And it had cost her just about everything.
Almost her life, in fact. 'Is it even worth the risk?'
she questioned
herself tiredly. Relena was so tired over the constant demands of keeping
the peace that she was about to break.
The wind picked up swiftly and tossed sandy blonde hair in Relena's
face. Her hand rose to pull back the blind fold and then turned to retreat
back into the warmth. But her train of thought was disrupted when she turned
and her hand fell to her side. The wind quickly leapt at the opportunity
of tossing the hair about again, blowing it across her view. But the figure
that stood there never moved and his eyes were still as cold as ever.
Relena regained her train of thought after a minute and stepped
out of the chilling wind and into the warmth of her bedroom. She heard
the click of the door gently shutting behind her. Taking a deep breath,
she walked towards the bed and began making it. Afterwards, she turned and
decided that she couldn't eat breakfeast or have her guest stare at her in
her pjs. She glanced around, still not familiar with the room, and spotted
a wardrobe. She walked and genlty opened the doors and glanced at the
clothes that hung there. 'Just like Than,' she thought
lightly as she
stared at the rather expensive dresses.
She was acutely aware of his eyes on her the entire time. 'What
does he want?' she thought as she stared in front of her. Oblivious
to the
movements of her visitor until he was behind her.
"This one Relena," he spoke softly and into her ear. His breath
caressing her skin and shifting her hair lightly.
"Heero?" she whispered as he took the dress of autumn colors and
the wrap that went with it.
She took the dress and wrap and walked into the bathroom, closing
the door behind her. She stared into the mirror, and saw that her eyes
didn't look like they had much of anything to offer anymore.
"What am I going to do?" she whispered.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Heero stood outside the door to the bathroom and waited for Relena
to step out. 'This is the only way to save her and everyone else,' he
told himself for the thousandth time.
He glanced around the room, taking in the way it was decorated and
the furniture positioned. The door opened behind him and he turned to
see Relena step out in the dress he picked.
The dress was a swirl of greens, oranges, reds, and yellows. It
matched her perfectly. 'Like all of the other dresses,' he thought with a
brief hatred for the man named Than. The wrap was in
her hands and he
motioned for her to walked forward.
"You have to do as I saw. Understand Relena?" he asked her.
'His voice is so cold,' she thought before answering him. "Yes."
He turned and walked out of the bedroom, leaving Relena to surmise
that she must follow him. After a minute of confusion, she realized where
they were going. Before she spoke her thoughts, Heero had stopped before
her and stood there.
"What is it?" she whispered. When he didn't answer, she walked
around him to see what he was looking at. And saw. It looked as if someone
had had fun with one of the guards. Relena turned and stared at the ground.
'He was murdered!' her mind screamed. The sight of the blood and the way
he was killed was a sign. She pulled herself together and glanced at Heero
who was looking at her. "Well, we might as well get moving," she said
lightly.
Heero watched her walked past the guard's body without a single
glance or twitch. 'Wonder who's here?' he thought and then as an aftermath,
wondered if they would represent a problem to him later.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Than watched as Heero and his princess walked through the halls and
toward him. Mariemeia wasn't back yet, but he'd have no problem killing
the Wing Zero pilot. And then he'd finally have Relena all to himself.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Relena knew where Than was, he made it a point to tell
her all the
time. She felt as if she had know this castle for
years. She knew Heero was
right behind her. She now had two men, one wanting to make her queen again
and destroy the peace she so carefully built and the other one wanted
nothing from her and yet was always around her. She also had a sneaking
suspicion that he was going to end up killing her.
And if she had to chose? It would be the later one. She was even
confused by her pick too. One that would worship the ground you walk on and
the other would kill you. 'What's wrong with me?' she thought as she saw
the door to Than's room looming ahead of her. She
stopped abruptly and
stared. 'Calm down,' she sternly told herself and then started walking
again. 'Heero's here and he won't let anyone hurt you,' she told herself.
And hoping that she was right.
When she stood before the door, her hand shook as she reached for
the door knob, but never made it. The door swung open and Than
smiled at
her before dragging her in and slaming the door behind them. Relena felt
herself hit Than's chest and then his arm come about
her waist.
"My dear sweet Relena," Than whispered in her ear.
"I told you, you
would make the right choice. To be with me forever. To be my queen. Rule
beside me. I'm glad you picked me over peace."
Relena shut her eyes and tried to keep the tears back. She cared
for freinds and family too much to say no. What had she done? 'Peace will
surely be destroied now. Why hadn't Heero killed me when he had the chance?'
she thought wildly. She could feel Than.
Smell him. She managed to gather
the strength and push away from him.
"No," she desparately stated and backed away from him. Tears freely
running down her cheeks.
He laughed. "Sorry honey, but you've already chosen. Your lover has
come to kill you."
That she could believe. Heero always said you would kill her. And
she wanted him to, rather than live with Than.
"Please Heero."
The door busted open and Heero Yuy rolled in with gun in hand, ready
to shoot his target. He glanced at Than then Relena,
who stood a few feet
away from him. His cold eyes asserted the situtation and then he proceed
with his plan.
Heero slowly stood up, facing Than with his cold,
calculating
expression. He lifted the gun barrel towards him.
"Go ahead, Heero. I'm not afraid to die," he said smiling. "But
Relena will always be mine. She has from the beginning and she will until
the end."
Heero pulled back the hammer and swung the gun to meet Relena, then
pulled the trigger. Than jumped at the sudden turn of events and leapt for
Heero, who already knew the move was going to be made. He
aimed and fired
the gun again, hitting Than square in the chest.
"I never... *cough* thought... *cough* you of all the people...
*cough* *cough* would kill Relena," Than whispered as he fell to the floor,
clutching his chest. The blood spilled out and formed a puddle under him
as he finally stilled.
Heero stared at him before turning around and picking Relena up.
Blood had soaked through her dress and stained it, Heero noted mentally.
He glanced down at her.
"Heero..." she whispered, her eyes meet his before she fell
unconsious.
He closed his eyes briefly and willed the tears back. He was never
one to cry. He was the perfect soldier.

So what do you think. I'm thinking one more chapter
and then the epilouge.
Yep. I'm finally wrapping this story up! So what do you think of my summary?
I got the idea from a fellow fic writer. Anyways, I'm sorry it took so long.
I've had a bunch of stuff to deal with at home. I'll try harder and have
the story finished before Christmas.
