Okay. I know some of you may be
confused. This is the second part. Chapters
1-7 were frist and you might want to read them first.
(For all of you who
are reading this and haven't.) I'm hoping to bump out about 6 more chapters
but ya never know.
Anyways, I don't own Gundam Wing. But if I did, I don't think I could
write it as beautifully as it was written.

Notes:
Chapter 7 picks up about 2-3 months later.

Chapter 8: The Past?
By Yuki-hime
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Relena stared out her office. 'This isn't happening to me,' she
thought as she glanced down at the letter on her desk. She thought today
would be great. She woke up in a good mood and even saw Heero with a smile
on his face, but this letter, this letter had destoried
all this emtions.
"Miss Relena?" a voice came from the doorway.
She looked up to see Noin coming in. "Yes?"
"I was worried about you. You missed your meeting at one," she said
as she appoarched the sitting woman.
Relena jumped up. "Oh, no! I'm so sorry Noin. I can't believe I
forgot that!" she said. She started gathering papers and putting them into
a vanilla folder. "Are they still waiting for me?" she asked, jumping
from
one side of her desk to the other.
"No, I told them you were held back," Noin
said, watching her
behavior with interest. "Relena, what's wrong? Did something bad
happen?"
"What?" she questioned. "Oh no, nothing's wrong. Why do you
ask?"
she asked her.
"You seem...oh I don't know. Distracted," she replied.
"No nothing's wrong," she said as she continued to straighten her
desk. She came to the letter that she recieved
earlier and stalled. She
realized that Noin was watching her and picked the
letter up to place it
in her desk drawer. "Is there something that needs to be done?" she
asked.
"No, but I wanted to check on you," she said. "Call me when you
want to go home," she stated and walked out the door.
Relena sighed and sat in her chair. "What do you want from me?" she
whispered. Closing her eyes against the view she wished that she had never
meet him.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Where's Relena?" Zecas questioned Noin as she walked out of
Relena's office. He hadn't wanted to talk to her himself since their
relationship was on the uneasy side.
"In her office," Noin replied.
"Well, then why did she miss the meeting?" he asked a little
irriated now.
"She lost track of time," Noin said looking
at him. Confusion could
be seen in her eyes.
"She...lost track of time?" he repeated her in question. "But
that's
not like her at all."
"I know. She was acting werid too. Jumpy," Noin stated. "I think
something has happened, but when I asked her she said everything was
fine."
Zecas looked at her. 'Maybe this has to do with the
colony,' he
thought.
"Why don't you talk to her yourself?" Noin
said, inturputing his
thoughts.
"I...we..." he stammered and stopped for a breath.
"Ever since the
colony incident, she's been wary of me. I think it's because of my
disappearence."
"She just has to get used to you being around again," she said as
she looked at his profile.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Relena had her secretary do research on the history of the man who
designed the colony and his family. And when she had told her
that there
was nothing unusal to report, Relena's last little
hope faded.
'If he's not tided in with the Medine family?' she
thought to
herself. She was gazing out the window. 'Then...does that mean that he's
back?' The thought of him made her suddered slightly.
Then she felt someone
behind her and warm hands on her shoulders. She knew who it was and wished
him not to be.
'Heero, don't you understand that I can't face you?' she thought as
she stared at his reflection in the window. Just as he stared
at hers.
He finally broke the eeire silence.
"Relena," he whispered.
She stood there with him, watching the sun set on the ocean view
her office held.
"Are you cold?" he asked.
She noticed then that she had been shivering. "No," she lied.
"You're a bad lier," he whispered in her
ear.
She could feel his warm breath on her neck and closed her eyes to
the whirling thoughts in her mind. 'It's Heero, not him,' she thought.
Exaustion settled in and she leaned against him.
Then the words she knew would come, but prayed would not, and could
only hold her breath as he spoke them. "Who is it?" he asked.
She stared at his reflection in the window. The sun's last
rays of
life peaking over the mountains and giving him a soft quality. She
sighed.
"Someone dangerous Heero," she spoke and was surprised to hear her
voice was
not shaken, but strong.
"I'll protect you Relena," he said, hugging her tightly against him
and breathing in her scent. A cherry blossom smell that
reminded him of
home.
She pulled away reluctantly and missed the warmth that he gave her.
She turned to face him. "Heero you must promise me something," she
said
sternly.
He looked at her. "Relena, I promise to protect you. Don't make me
promise something that will put you in danger."
She sighed. "Then I can not tell you what I need for you to know,"
she said with tears in her eyes. She placed her hands over her face as she
bowed her head.
He stepped close and embraced her as he felt her body rack with the
tears she had held for years. "Relena, one day I will find out," he
whispered. "Tell me. I won't leave you in the dark by yourself."
"I can't. I'll lose face," she mumbled into his shirt. She clung
tightly to him as if he were the last thing in her world.
He smoothed her by gently stroking her hair. "Relena, you can tell
me anything," he whispered to her again.
She looked up at him, her face streaked with tears and
smiled a
weak smile. "Heero, Ah shiteru," she said
then quickly rushed on. "You
don't have to say anything."
He smiled down at her.
"Hey Relena," Duo said as he burst into the office. He saw her in
Heero's arms. "Hey, you finally made a move," he said smiling.
Heero looked at Duo with a cold stare. "What is it Duo?" his voice
cold like his stare.
"Oh yeah. Relena, I have a question," he
said looking at her and
then at Heero.
She waited a moment. "Well, what is it Duo?" she asked growing
impatient.
"Well, I want to ask you in private," he said and looked at Heero.
"I'm not leaving," he stated and pulled Relena closer to him.
Relena saw the pleading look in Duo's eyes and smiled. "Okay, Heero
I'll be right back," she said as she followed Duo out the door.
He watched Relena and Duo walk out and the door close behind them.
He turned and watched the skyline change colors before his eyes. After a few
minutes, he heard the door open.
"Heero?" Noin said
suprised. She stopped just inside the room.
"Relena's talking to Duo," he replied.
She shut the door behind her and walked over to the desk. "I'm not
looking for Relena," she said as she stopped before the desk. She looked
at
him a minute.
"I didn't see anything," he replied coldly and turned back to his
view.
"Thank you Heero," she whispered and then opened the top drawer and
rumaged through it. After a few minutes, she pulled
out a letter addressed
to Relena and closed the drawer she was searching. She started toward the
door when Heero spoke.
"I want to read it," he said still looking out the window.
Noin stopped at the door and looked at the letter in
her hands. She
turned around and walked back to Heero.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Duo, why don't you just ask Hilde
yourself?" she laughed.
"Because, I'm little nervous. And plus I want you
to find out about
that guy she's been seeing," he said. He was on his knees and clinging to
Relena's leg.
She laughed at Duo on the brink of tears. "Okay Duo. I'll find out
about Hilde."
"Oh, thank you thank you Relena!" he shouted as he gave her a bear
hug.
"Duo, I can't breath," she squeaked.
"Sorry," he said. They both laughed. "Umm,
Relena. Can I ask you a
question?" Duo said.
"Yes," she said as they walked back to her office.
"What's going on?" he asked.
Relena sighed. "I'm not at liberty to say."
"Relena, I'm not some reporter. I'm Duo remember?" he said as they
reached her office.
"I have some things that need my attention at the moment. This
conversation will have to wait," she said as she opened the door, walked
in
and shut it behind her. She saw Heero still by the window looking out and
walked to him. She put her arms around his waist and locked her hands.
"I'm sorry it took so long Heero," she said.
Heero looked behind him at her. 'I can't show her I know,' he
thought. 'And she can't take this burden alone.' He turned and embraced her.
"Relena," he said into her hair.
She was shocked by his sudden movements and stiffened. "Heero?"
she questioned him.
"Relena, I'm sorry," he whispered. "Sorry." And Relena
could tell
that for the first time, Heero was crying.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Vice Foreign Minister, how long will it take the colony to be
fully opertational again?" a reporter asked.
Relena saw him before the meeting talking to some others. "It's
expected to be another month. They renovations are talking longer than I
had expected," she replied to his question.
"Will you open the Beta Colony 5 personally, Vice Foreign Minister?"
a man asked to her right.
"Yes, I plan on personally seeing that everything is in order and I
will open the colony," she answered as she pointed to a woman.
"Will there be increased security?" she asked.
"Yes, Lutient Noin
will be accompaning me and is the head of the
security team that will escort me there," she said. Noin
stepped up to her
and whispered something in her ear. "Excuse me, something has come up and
I have to attend to it. Lutient Noin
will answer the rest of your
questions," she said as she stepped off the podium and Noin
stepped up.
"Right over there," Noin said as she
pointed to a reporter in the
back.
"How much sercurity will accompany the Vice
Minister?" Relena heard
as teh door closed behind her and she took the hall
to her left.
"What could Heero possibly want right now?" she said as she turned
to the right and opened the first door on the left.
When she walked in, she saw Heero standing at the window. "Heero?
What is it?" she asked as the door clicked behind her.
"I'm going to escort you to the colonies Relena and you aren't
going to argue with me about it," he said as he turned to face her. He
could
see the shock in her eyes, even though her face was calm.
"Heero, you can't..." she started.
"No," he stopped her. "I can. And if I don't then you aren't
going
either."
She looked at him. "Why?" she asked.
He looked at her. Her eyes showing the turmoil that she felt. And
walked to her, their eyes never leaving each others. "Why do you
want to
follow?" she whispered to him.
"Because I don't want anything to happen to you," he replied as he
held her.
