AND, AND is IT
|
From our reporter
UTRECHT
`Sometimes (particularly during holiday) one feels
an intense astonishing moment without saying anything.
These are emotional moments and the only thing you could say:
This is IT!, this is Life.
The last time I felt this moment was on an idyllic beach near
Recife (Brasil),
with samba music on the background, a beer in my hand, sitting on a beach chair.
Passie, 29 years old is software engineer,
and at the same time he is not.
He is a so called "in between".
'In traditional design and software engineering
|
one tends to see those
two disciplines as mutual exclusive.
Passie believes that the combination of these disciplines is
what makes user interfaces outstanding
Passie's main drive in life is that live is not
`or, or but and, and, black and white, together!'.
This does not only reflect his work but his whole life.
He can be seen as a renewer, and is not the type of person that looks
back for long:
"Today is tomorrow yesterday, and that is or forgotten or history.
I adapt very well, and it seems as if sometimes my life is in constant flux
Actually, I don't know if I would be comfortable with any other
situation other than flux.
I like change, or at least like situations that are dynamic in nature.."

Have got it made
BAHIA
Besides work Passie is a very busy person:
"Work is only one aspect of my life.
When I am not travelling, I work out, am going out,
sweating on the dance floor or with friends".
I am very determined to combine my private and professional life.
It might seem contradictional but I am a perfectionist.
I see many people in my surrounding
|
wasting their lives away in jobs,
having no social life at all.
I believe they put themselves in the position, they are accustomed
to becoming the victim..
They are lived and in my point of view do not live.
At the age of 50 they will probably notice that they missed something.
It should be clear that that is not my driving force.
"Actually I would rather hit the jackpot with a smash
and have got in made,
and start a pub on a beach in Brazil."

Having the guts to go nuts
As mentioned earlier Passie's main qualities are renewing and going for
new challenges.
He is always looking for strange and alternative approaches to "old"
solutions to problems,
and finds it a challenge to regularly change a product
(sometimes dramatically).
Although I like most people, I dislike the so called `administrators',
who can really be a pain in the ass when you want to get something
done. A sentence like `I will foresee problems in the future'
makes my skin crawl! They always need problems to worry about.
|

"The only thing too look after is to keep reality in mind,
but so what,
that will soon turn virtual anyway".
Currently, working at the government,
the `elderies' do not have the flexibility to change.
Passie has been working zmong clerks for about 4.5 years now and
wants to use his capabilities in a more motivated environment.
He is looking for a multi-disciplinary creative open-minded group of people,
with humor and who are enthousiastic by nature.

Yesterday
BILTHOVEN
As a child I was always interested how things worked.
Therefore I deassambled radios, taperecordes etc.
I tried to design fairground attractions, hover crafts, and later on
also cars.
Passie started studying in Computer Science, graduated in Neural Networks.
For his thesis he developed a graphical user interface for
|
neural
Kohonen networks (associative maps).
He continued working in the field of user interfaces at the
Institute of Public Health and the Environment.
Passie is interested in a broad field of design issues,
user interface design, software system design.
In all situations there should be a puzzle to solve,
and he definitely likes to solve puzzles.
